I have to agree. There is no excuse for drunk driving. People need to grow up and realize that all of the people who killed other while driving drunk didnt mean it either

Exactly!

Mistake, what mistake? The person made the decision to drive after that have been drinking. No real case for a mistake there. Not like you got into the car thinking it was a bathroom and tried to drive the toilet bowl home.

I never understand why people don't sleep it off in their cars.

I never understood why people would drive to an establishment knowing they are going to drink. Nothing wrong with drinking, but if you are going to drink that night leave the car at home. Pretty simple too me. If you drove your car and unexpectedly found yourself at an establishment that serves alcohol, don't drink any.

Wow your friend was really lucky. They would of locked me up by no time

I had a DWI before and i deserved it. It change my lifestyle a bit. I think twice before turning that key even after a single drink. It's a serious matter and need to be taken as is.

In many places, that is simply too risky or dangerous.

One of my old-time favorite rock-singers, Bon Scott from AC/DC, lost his life that way. After one of his (usual) rounds of heavy-drinking, he went to sleep outside, in a friend's car, on a cold London night...never woke up.
