Company vows to keep world speed title

Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer revealed the company has no intentions to lose their crown of producing the world's fastest production vehicle.

Speaking with Car Magazine, the executive said the title was "vital" to the company's image and would respond if a vehicle is launched that exceeds the Super Sport's record-setting 431 km/h (268 mph). As Durheimer put it, "It's in human nature, we are always going to want to find out who runs the 100m the fastest. It's the same with cars."

This is rather interesting as the SSC Tuatara is reportedly being developed to hit 443 km/h (275 mph). So is there a Veyron successor in our future? Perhaps.

I won't mind if Bugatti wants to spend more money on R&D to develop a car that can go faster than 275mph and costs millions of dollars to own. Gives me another car to dream about

Huh? Bugatti "could" offer? I thought it was common knowledge that a Veyron successor was almost guaranteed?

I am thinking they will try to beat SSC. I can see a 2500 hp quad turbo W16 in a body that has been lightened by at least 20% that will break 300 mph. At this level of engineering these guys are pushing what is physically possible
