2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe shows its new face, interior

We recently stumbled upon some grainy photos of what appeared to be a completely uncovered 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, showing off its new Veloster-inspired nose. Now, our intrepid spy photographers have caught a pair of Genesis Coupes out testing in the Death Valley heat, showing off the brand new nose.

These prototypes appear to either be the top-trim Track model or the hardcore R-Spec, featuring large, 19-inch wheels and a set of Brembo brakes. We've also managed to get our first glimpse at the coupe's revised interior, though from the looks of things, not a whole lot has changed (we'll wait until we see a console shot before drawing conclusions, though).

As for what's under the hood, a safe bet is that the coupe will get the revised, direct-injected 3.8-liter V6 from the Genesis Sedan, producing 333 horsepower. Of course, we're all crossing our fingers that Hyundai has found a way to shoehorn its new 429-hp 5.0-liter V8 under the two-door's sleek hood.

The 2013 Genesis Coupe is expected to debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January. Stay tuned for more details.

I dont like it at all, and much prefer the styling to the gen that I own, but hey, call me biased, lol.

 

I like it. Should bring some great competition to the market.

 

they should have made veloster look more like genesis and not make genesis look like veloster, imho.

 

Doesn't look as good IMO. A bit cheaper looking than the current one.

 

They killed it.

It WAS cleanly styled and attractive.

Now they overstyled it to match the rest of their line up. Bleh.

I suppose that was inevitable.

 

What the hell that front looks like *** and ****! SMDH. Old design was WAY better

 

They just put the front end of the Accent on their $30K sports coupe.

 

 

I think it still looks okay, but no as good as the previous gen. Glad to see a nice hp bump. Should perform very well.

 

Wow they just might be pulling an Acura TL here....

Yup, which I mentioned above. BTW, it's a 2012. The new Accent's been out over a month now.

One of the only design elements I don't like with Hyundai is the creases that run from the lower air dam to the grill. Creates a weird ugly fish look to them. And that is on about
2/3rds of all Hyundai's now. If they smoothed out that crease, they'd all look much better.

That grill makes it look like a Tiburon.
