It sucks though because you're blasting through 85 mph and all of a sudden you'll get hit by a radar cop because the speed limit goes from 80 down to 45 in some podunk town whose revenue is 100% speeding tickets

They always get out-of-state travelers with that kind of stuff
I've always loved driving in Texas. Took a road trip through there and it was awesome being able to drive 80 without having to worry about being pulled over Surprisingly, i didn't see that many people going over 80MPH, though if you do drive below 75 people will tail gate the hell out of you lol
There is no "de facto" speed limit. In reality, a cop can pull you over for anything over the speed limit if he/she sees fit. In most cases they are looking for those going 10mph+ over the speed limit, but they can get you for anything over. My GF got a ticket for 72mph in a 65mph zone. lol
You say there is no "de facto" speed limit, and then you provide the definition of a "de facto" speed limit and claim that in "most cases" cops follow that paradigm, so I'm not sure what you're saying.
Saying there is a "de facto" speed limit of (legal speed limit + 10 MPH) on major interstate highways is simply saying that cops, in most cases, pull people over who go beyond 10 MPH over the speed limit. Not all cases. Most cases.
I know there are going to be the reckless drivers but I wish FL had it like TX. Even though people average 75-85mph on the interstate it'll be nice to see a nice speed limit bump. When I drove to Texas all I saw was big lifted diesels flying past me back when the speed limit was in the 70's, I can imagine how its gonna be now.
