Default Dealership employee caught on camera searching customers car

This was video was taken with a sound activated camera placed on the dash board.
It recorded the events that took place while the car was being serviced at:
Berman Infiniti on Hooker street in Downtown Chicago, Illinois

It captured one of the employees probing the center console of a customers car. he stopped his search after another worker warned him about the camera.

This video was presented to the Sales and Service manager.
They found nothing wrong with the employees behaviour.

To add insult to injury, they defended the employee by saying the only thing he was guilty of was being curious.

This person is still employed there.

ummm.. nothing he did wrong that I could see or hear?... is this another one of those pist off over exagerated customers? no offense, but the fact that you have a camera mounted on your dash sounds like your always out to "try and fight crime"...

What, the guy clearly went and searched through the armrest department. He would probably search through glove dept and the rest of the car if his coworker didn't warn him about the camera.

One of my pre-service rituals with either car, no matter which dealer, is to remove anything of any value from the glove compartment, console, trunk and door pockets prior to dropping off the car. Always have done it and always will.

Well the interesting thing was the dude told him "It's recording you so be careful". That can be taken in many different ways ie:

1. Be careful, treat the car well, because the owner will know.
2. You can't take anything from this one, the owner will know.

I'm not to thrilled about it, but sometimes a customer will come back to the dealer and an employee will have to go though the car and find whatever it is the customer came back for. One time I found a gun :/

Video makes me laugh cause it reminds me of how much I hated being a tech, but having worked on cars for years, and with all the getting in and out of cars, even if he opened the center console, it looks more like a reflex then him actual opening and looking, I have done that a bunch of times, and I have seen some items of value in peoples cars but never took anything.

Honestly just looks like a customer who has been burned by dealers before for whatever reason and now he is super paranoid
