Yes, the Tacoma is now a mid-sized truck (it was a compact-size truck for years). But, unlike with the mid-3/4 size 1Gen Tundra, Toyota didn't try to market the Tacoma as a true full-sizer, which the 1Gen Tundra clearly wasn't. The Tacoma was marketed in an honest, more realistic manner....and its decent sales-figures show it. But, even so, decent as they are, the mid-size Tacoma's sales figures are miniscule in comparison the those of the F-150 or Silverado. Like it or not, Ford and Chevy still rule the full-size domestic-truck industry. The Honda Ridgeline, even with its clever features, solid engineering, and value-for-the-money, never really had a solid chance of breaking significantly into that market. The real question is whether it ever had a significant chance against even the mid-size Toyota Tacoma...on that, of course, opinions differ. I personally am of the opinion that it did (and still does)......but if the plug is pulled on it, of course, we'll never really know.
