Volt = GM's latest sales flop...or just getting started?

Government agency bought some, don't you mean the tax payer's. I wouldn't be surprised either, it's not their money.

I was deciding between the Volt and the Ct200h and I went with the Volt. It is built well and I like it that there are not too many on the roads, which makes it unique.
The 40 miles in battery range is perfect for me and I pay less than $1 to go that range.

The dealer by my campus, which is right next door, had two out on the platform out front with prices listed meaning they were for sale, that were there for over a month. For a car that is supposedly supply strapped, Chico sure doesn't seem to want them.

Edit:
Yep it was traffic enforcement
Bloomberg ordered 50 volts for nypd use.

I think marketing for this car is just terrible. For a car to get a $7500 tax credit and still not fly off the shelves is very telling. Remember when there was a $8000 tax credit for 1st time homebuyers? The housing market spiked. And that's for a much more sizable purchase.
Chevy needs a plan B and needs it quick. They need to market the car as a electric plug-in with a gasoline engine back-up, which is essentially how I think of it.

NYPD also has a bunch of Altima hybrids too.......
Pretty much all NYC Agencies have gone with hybrids for their general fleet; combinations of Prius' (most common), Escapes/Mariners, and Highlanders.

If you can't bribe people to buy these things with a huge tax credit something is wrong. You would be crazy to buy a first gen, cutting edge vehicle from GM. I'm old enough to remember the Chevy Vega from the early 70's.

I've seen a couple but still a rare sight indeed. And I have to say it looks very nice on the road. I won't pass judgment on GM and the Volt yet, as I am rooting for them to become successful and repay all their loans back to the gov't. I do agree that total sales do not matter if they are selling every one they've made so far. Similar to Toyota, they are down in total sales this year, but more due to lack of supply than demand.
pretty cool looking car IMO....and I hope it succeeds.
hard when the local UAW wants $50/hr for some guy to tighten bolts (again IMO).

Problem with Volt is that it wont make sense next year if it doesnt make sense now. It will be only worse with competition on the road... and billions that went into development will be just wasted....
