^Maybe it's just me, but the concept of a "sporty" long wheelbase, 4,500lb car just makes little sense. Are driving characteristics and performance important? Of course, but luxury, features and technology should be the primary ranking criteria, as they probably are for most people actually buying these cars.
Considering that, I think it's foolish to rank this foursome without the two that essentially wrote the rulebook. However, they'd have to revaluate their ranking criteria and weightings for the S or LS to stand a chance against the A8 or Xj, so perhaps it's best that they weren't included.
Just my opinion.

EDIT: It is kinda like testing a bunch of hybrids for performance, when people in that category are looking for something reliable, and fuel efficient and car magazines rank those important criteria consumers are ACTUALLY looking for in this range of cars dead last.
