The Chinese Are Back! Clones!

Unbelievable.
The sad thing is, if Audi, Infiniti or Volkswagen even bothered with a lawsuit, they'd loose.
BMW sued some Chinese carmaker because they had an X5 clone. BMW lost the case because the judges felt that the rear lights (or something along those lines) looked different from the original X5. Case closed.

Any lawyer or actual business person would tell you that copies are made when certain companies do not take the necessary precautions to protect themselves or enforce infringement.
Plenty of companies have their products copied, and plenty of companies (that protect themselves properly) don't.
That being said, are the copies morally right? No

Wow, this is as shameless as it gets. This it's the first example I'm seeing of exact copies. Most of the time, we see cars that look remarkably similar to REAL cars but were never exact molds. This is clearly a case of the Chinese buying examples of the real thing, taking then apart, and making molds of the parts.
This is the country that is suppose to replace the US as the worlds economic leader? All based on stolen ideas, sweat shop wages, and currency manipulation.
Scary.

Although I see where the anger comes from, I see no cause for concern. After living here for awhile, I found that the Chinese are very, very brand conscious. They know what is good and will often buy the real thing for fears of losing face.
I don't really see these cars roaming the streets of Shanghai at all. I see a lot more VWs and Audis, the IS are also plentiful.

Looking at the photos, you can clearly see REAL automakers side by side with these copycats in an auto show. I can only assume some of the same copied models are under the same roof. How do they get away with it?
