Well, there saying this winter is going to be a tough one. Worse than last years and we might even experience a few Snowpocalypse's. I'm looking at Jeeps, I want something that can tow and has a good 4wd system. Naturally the Jeep ZJ and WJ come to mind. I'm also looking at Cherokee's too. I was looking at Bronco's but all that ive seen have V8's I want something with reasonable fuel economy.
Well from what i hear from friends that live in snowy areas, whatever SUV you drive in the snow is gonna get crappy gas mileage anyways because of how you have to drive in snow lol.
I hear the Subaru Forester's are pretty beastly in the snow tho
Jeeps, 4runners, pathfinders, older qx4's all come to mind. Maybe an rx300 older one with more mileage. If you find a good one, older ml's are decent in snow as well. My neighbor bought an ml320 1998 for one year of winter as he didnt want to drive his s class and it did a decent job. Cars that some people forget about are monteros and explorers, quality isnt that great but they decent in snow and can tow a good amount
4runner, I had 2 4runners 98 and 05, one Jeep GC 2001. Even my 98 4runner 4wd was better than the GC.
Sequoia was nice too, I so regret that I sold my 2005 limited 2 years ago. Gas mileage wasn't bad at all. I think Pre 2005 Sequoia can be had for under 10K now.
I'm in the same boat. Looking for a beater for my parents to use in the winter. Right now, looking at some 03-05 Explorers. Seem to be running for 4-6 grand with 4WD. Slap some snow tires on there and should be good to go.
