Dodge to end production of the Caravan and Town & Country in 2013
#16
My parents have a 99 Caravan with 170k miles that was just hit and totaled. Unreliable as hell, a misfiring engine we couldn't bother to fix and 3 transmissions. The first two were under warranty/extended but the third was out of pocket... All done for <$350 including labor. Apparently the shop went through so many, they had them in stock and could do the replacement blindfolded. We held onto it cause it did the job we needed it to do, but we're all happy to be rid of it. Never another pentastar minivan for us. Good riddance to the whole lot.

It would be interesting if the next-gen Town and Country would have an updated diesel engine.
Heck
I think it would be a wise move if they use the RA 360 diesel engine of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
240 hp and 550 Nm torque would do quite well for this van

I agree, but substitute "SUVs" for minivans.
My lowered Odyssey (with wheels & tires) is at least somewhat fun to drive, and returns 28 mpg on long trips - try that in a Tahoe. Anybody who says "my Tahoe/Explorer/etc. is so fun to drive" must be used to driving a school bus.
I use mine for my business - I have no kids.
