Guys, the new NSX drivetrain is pretty much shown by the SH-AWD Hybrid engineering mule:

Internal combustion is joined under the hood by a single 40-hp, 96-lb-ft electric motor mated directly to a Honda-developed seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox
Out back, a pair of 27-horsepower, 52-lb-ft electric motors power the rear wheels, providing through-the-road all-wheel drive (read: there's no mechanical connection between the front and rear wheels).
By independently controlling the two motors, either positive or negative torque can be applied to an individual rear wheel, providing torque vectoring in corners while funneling power back into the lithium-ion battery.
will offer V8 power and a more nimble driving experience than typical all-wheel-drive systems, all while delivering four-cylinder fuel economy.
Roughly add up the power..........310 hp + 40 hp + 27 hp + 27 hp = 400 hp.

It will be interesting to see how and what the NSX delivers. With a hybrid V6 and AWD, I don't know that I expect it to be necessarily fast or particularly light. Perhaps Honda's idea is to pitch this as the first true hybrid sports car? Realistically thinking, GT-R will probably crush it from the $70-90K price range and from there-up, cars only get faster and more powerful. None the less, I'm excited to see what they come up with but If it costs $75K, has 400hp, does 0-60 in 5 seconds and delivers 30mpg, I think that's going to be a hard sell.

expect 40hp or less... those electric motors are disappointing, they cant recuperate a lot of energy which means battery cant be large which means you cant have a big total output. Consider than in RX AWD, electric engines are 167hp upfront, 68hp at back, plus another one in front which i dont remember how much power it has -68hp probably.
yet total output is 50hp, not 300hp.... thats because a lot more is not possible because battery capacity is relativly low and it depends on your ability to recharge it through driving, which is why lexus uses those big motors (more recharging power when coasting and braking).
You could have it output 300hp (with lion battery), but it would last several seconds and then you would be out of it for a long time... with 300hp motors, you can get reliable 50hp recharge for 50hp boost anytime you need it. With motors less than than in Prius (prius has 2 - 68hp and 55hp), not sure how you could get even reliable 50hp output.

Acura already confirmed that a concept version of the next NSX supercar would bow at the Detroit autoshow, but now a report from Auto Express reveals two other key details on the newcar. The new NSX will reportedly produce close to 400 hp, and will be offered in roadster form alongside the already-previewed coupe.
As we reported earlier this month, the resurrected Acura NSX bows in concept form at the 2012 Detroit show before going on sale in 2014. Serving as a technological halo car for the brand, the new NSX will feature a new hybrid SH-AWD drivetrain. A gasoline engine will drive the rear axle through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, while twin electric motors will propel the front wheels.
Acura has not yet revealed any performance specifications for the new car, but AE suggests the hybrid drivetrain will produce at least 400 hp, managing the 0-to-62-mph sprint in less than five seconds. The publication also suggests the NSX’s gasoline engine will be a 3.5-liter V-6.
As to design, the NSX concept stays close to the styling seen on a prop car developed for action film The Avengers. Whereas the movie mock-up is a coupe, the Detroit-bound NSX concept will be an aggressive, angular coupe with wide rear haunches and Acura’s signature triangular front grille. However, AE reports that Acura also will develop a roadster version of the car for series production. If so, the topless NSX might debut some time after the coupe goes on sale.

Well the 2007 GT-R was a 3800+lbs pig on a steel chassis with just 478hp and yet it was more than able to hang with the big guns both in straight line and on a road course, so if the new NSX can employ the same kind of computer wizardry-driven mechanisms such as the torque-vectoring AWD (pretty much a given for Honda) and proper launch control while somehow keeping the weight below 3,200lbs using exotic materials, 400hp should be quite enough for it to keep up with the 2007 GT-R in a straight line, not to mention out-handling it due to the much lower weight.

All you guys harping on horsepower...I just never understand it.
400 should be enough to enjoy a car with light weight chasis and superior handling characteristics. Anything under 4.0 0-60 is outstanding and Honda can do that with 400 hp.
The horsepower war is over.
I hope Honda sticks with the formula of the original NSX.

Rumor is guys that the 400 hp figure is slated for the RL. We will find out for sure next month. I'm expecting around 500 hp. At the price it's selling for, Acura seems to be targeting the R8 and believe me....the SH-AWD is more superior than what Audi has going on. It's very similar to that of the GT-R's. Pair it up with a DCT and it will be one heck of a car.
