The regular Prius with 15" wheels gets 38km/L in the 10-15 test cycle, and 35.5km/L with 17" wheels. This Prius C gets 40km/L in the same cycle, so the Prius C is 5.3% more efficient than the 15"-wheeled Prius and 12.7% more efficient than the 17"-wheeled Prius. However, in the JC08 test cycle, the regular Prius with 15" wheels gets 32.6km/L, and 30.4km/L with 17" wheels. The Prius C gets 35.4km/L in JC08 so here it is 8.6% more efficient than the 15"-wheeled Prius and 16.4% more efficient than the 17"-wheeled Prius.
The Prius C is gonna be getting 55-60 mpg? This is Highway right? Wouldn't City be higher?

However due to 500lbs+ lower weight, i think that real life numbers for c will be considerably better than Prius. For instance, all the MPG testing around the world is done with car accelerating really slow, something like 40s 0-60, this is why small engine, turbo cars do so well on such testing and never nearly good in real life, when you actually accelerate a lot more briskly.
Power wise, power to weight ratio is between G2 and G3 Prius, so it should be quick enough.

One car and you make judgements as if I hate Toyota's designs. I've owned 3 toyota products. I like the FT-86, the new GS has grown on me to the point of me acutally wanting one , the LFA is amazing. I could go on and on.... Yet I voice my opinion about the Prius C and I get called a toyota hating joke..... The juke isn't ugly to all people you know. I like companies that take risks with their designs and are bold, something which the prius C isn't. I won't call the Juke handsome, not by a long shot, but I like its different chunky funky design.

There's a good reason why the PR of the recent Prius c debut stresses only the ">50mpg city" part of the specs--it's because like the regular Prius, the Prius c won't be getting 50mpg on the highway. In fact, the Prius c most likely won't be getting 50mpg combined either since I doubt that we are going to get the 14"-wheeled version of the Prius c here in the US, and since the 15"-wheeled Prius already only gets 50mpg combined, the 15"-wheeled Prius c, which proves to do worse in the 10-15 cycle, is going to get 49mpg combined if my estimate is correct. Just think, wouldn't the PR have proudly announced ">50mpg combined" instead of ">50mpg city" if the former were true?

The figures I quoted are of combined cycles from the Japanese 10-15 and JC08 standards, which don't offer separate highway and city test data. Also, the 40km/L figure I quoted in my previous post are of the 14"-wheel version of the Prius c. The higher-grade versions that are equipped with 15" wheels get only 37km/L, which is actually worse than the regular Prius with 15" wheels, which gets 38km/L in the same 10-15 test standard.

as said before, I expect real life of c to be considerably better than in regular Prius due to 500lbs less weight.
on the other hand, epa for highway wont be as good since it uses smaller engine.
but again, real life - Prius c will eat Prius G3 for dinner.

Head Engineer already said they expect for it to become Toyota's best seller in Japan, but not in the world due to pricing difficulties with high Yen and Japanese production.
