Contrary to rumors and reports circulating the internets, BMW will, in fact, bring the next 3 Series wagon to the U.S. But it's still a ways out.
According to Autoblog sources, the touring variant of the F30 3 Series will likely land on European shores within the next year, with the coupe and convertible versions arriving in late 2013. All four models – sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon – will be available in the U.S. when they arrive, but for the time being, the two-door and five-door versions of the E90/E92 will soldier on until their respective replacements arrive. And yes, a diesel version of the 2012 sedan unveiled last week should make it Stateside, as well.

I like Wagons too, but i just don't think there's that much of a place for them anymore....it seems like the consumer mindset now is just sedan --> crossover ---> SUV. I don't know many people that would still seriously consider a wagon for anything more than a winter beater.

World peace, apparently, since BMW doesn't seem to want to mate a manual to the turbodiesel, nor have they ever in recent memory put one of their more powerful engines in a 3er wagon.
That said, it'd be the perfect car for me as well. I've spent the last few years trying to decide what to eventually replace my E46 with, and nothing has really stood out. I'm now fairly certain the successor will be an F30. A manual is required, and a diesel wagon would be ideal. But I'm not holding my breath. I'll probably have to settle for a 335i sedan.

But, notice.....all four of these vehicles, in addition to the wagon body-style, have raised-suspensions/ground-clearance and AWD....something that the new BMW wagons may or may not offer.....we'll see.
That's where Acura, IMO, recently screwed-up with the TSX Sportwagon...a marvelous degign if used to its potential. But Acura marketed it, in the U.S,. only with an in-line 4, standard height-suspension, and FWD....three serious markeing errors, IMO.

The last Sportcross was the poorest-selling regular-production vehicle (not including the limited-production LF-A) that Lexus ever offered in the U.S. market. Even here in the recession-resistant D.C.-area, which has a LOT of jobs/money and huge auto-sales-figures, it is rare to see one.
