Unless I misread that, but did that SC just do a quarter mile in under 8 seconds?!?! 0.0 Holy hell, that is fast!
What exactly are they doin to the car that gets that much power? Turbocharging it?
Anyway, again, Army, congrats! I'll PM you sometime today or tomorrow, I got a midterm to study for tonight.

That would be a start in maybe paying for tires. That car is a serious dragster. I had some pics of it somewhere but can't find them right now (search for Justin Humphrey on the web). The motor sits about 2 feet up through the cut out in the hood.
Under 8 seconds and 189 mph doesn't come with a price tag.
Here's an IS doing the same (7.68 @ 189mph). This was SRT's product. Also in MD

Tires alone for $20k? How much did these guys drop in their car?
I'd love to have a 1IS do a quarter mile in under 8 seconds, under 10 seconds would be amazing too!
I see em around my area between $8k-$16k, saw a real nice one for $13k with 60k miles on it.
Cost to mod it to push that kinda power...$30k?!

10-15k will get you running RELIABLY (key word) from anywhere to 400-600 hp and still be street legal. Anything above that and it's not the same car you started with and most of the internals will replaced.
There's regular hp, and then there's track hp. And then there's the two examples I posted which is... well it just is

. . . or, you can go to RWD with a narrowed rear end, big slicks, big block and hope you don't catch big air:

For the SC, Toyomoto used to me the name in turbo charging. I used to be so hung up on saving up to get it done to my car, LOL! (before I discovered NOS) I believe they had an 8 second SC300. Their claim was a fully running, tuned, turbocharged, street legal SC turning out 400-550hp for about 15-20g. Vinny Ten used to run Performance Factory and i would stop by their shop when they were located in Queens back in the day. They did wonderful things to the 2JZ in their Supra. Alas, seems he mostly works with Nissans now.

^Off topic, but when did you become a mod? Congrats!
I got an LS400, and I would love to increase it's power, but I'm not sure if it'll be worth it cause it's a '90. Maybe if I ever get a newer LS I'd check out the engine.
The thing is, how can you turn a 1st gen IS, GS, or SC into a 4 second car? Or even a 5 second car? Like, how much power would you need for that?
The 1IS has 215hp and does 0-60 in 7 seconds, how much hp (and/or torque?) do you need to shave off 2-3 seconds?
