Default Lexus With 1000 HP!

When it comes to modifying your engine, which Lexus models are able to obtain 1000 hp?

I'm thinking 1st gen IS's and SC's, but I could be wrong.

Maybe 1000 hp is not attainable with a Lexus, if not, what's the most power you can get out of it after modification?

its not really the model its the engine, anything with a 2jz can get those #'s. its not just the 1sc 1is, its also the 1gs and 2gs.

is the engine model just called 2jz? I know that the Supra was rocking the 2jz-gte, but the 1st is, gs, and sc didn't have that engine, did it?

the 2jz-gte, yes, relatively "easy". but the 2jz, from my experience it's not as easy.

^Only the 300 cars? That sucks, cause the only SC's within 100m radius of where I live are the SC400. I've only seen one SC300 but it costs twice the amount of the SC400s that I'm seeing.

Is 1000hp even attainable with the 2jz engine, or are we looking at 700 top?

Edit: Also, you mentioned the 300 cars, would the ES300 have the same engine or not? Even if it does, I wonder how you'll be able to handle all that power with the drivetrain being fwd.

Not sure about 1000 hp off a 400 (1UZ) but those bad boys can handle some power if you supercharge em.... not cheap as far as I know too but lots of potential for HP gain.

With the 2JZ-GE I believe once you hit past 700 hp you get on shaky ground with stock internals in terms of reliability, etc... with the GTE you'll probably be fine. We have a huge SC section for performance upgrades by the way.

ES300 never had 2jz as someone said. That was the 3vz-fe V6.

2jz-gte could probably handle it but I would imagine you would be living on borrowed time.

1000HP on a 2jz-ge (non turbo) from an SC3, IS3 or Supra non turbo, you are looking at 650-700 before you are on borrowed time.

The 1uz-fe is a BEAST. The LS400/430 V8's take to mods VERY well, but the turbo's you will see on those are custom. I am not aware of any bolt-on kits. And getting it to 1k HP would insane. It could be done, with enough time and money. But the motor would be shooting rods through the block at around 800hp.

Still, all of this is VERY impressive when you take into consideration they are still in stock form inside. My dad had a saying:

Reliable and fast is expensive, cheap and reliable will not be fast, Fast and cheap will not ever be reliable. And he was right.

^Off topic, but when did you become a mod? Congrats!

I got an LS400, and I would love to increase it's power, but I'm not sure if it'll be worth it cause it's a '90. Maybe if I ever get a newer LS I'd check out the engine.

The thing is, how can you turn a 1st gen IS, GS, or SC into a 4 second car? Or even a 5 second car? Like, how much power would you need for that?

The 1IS has 215hp and does 0-60 in 7 seconds, how much hp (and/or torque?) do you need to shave off 2-3 seconds?

To get 1000HP from any engine is going to cost money. The 2JZ-GE in the SC,GS,IS 300 cars have the same inline 6 cast iron block as the 2JZ-GTE in the Supra, which in stock form was only about 100 more HP. That being said, it seems with few internal upgrades, you can get the 300 engine up to 400hp relatively with a few bolt-ons. After that you have to start worrying about the transmission and other engine internals.

With enough money and time any car can have 1000HP.

Incredible, PM me if you want more in depth info on this, I know quite a few people with SC's, IS300's, and even a couple of LS's that are dabbling in big power. I have also seen/worked on/helped build a few supra's which were sub 10 second quarter mile cars. There is alot to it, from engine upgrades to fuel/engine management, to tranny and diff swaps...the list is endless. It is VERY possible to get your 1UZ-FE to create big power...but it will be costly.

There is a reason that porsche's, IS-F's and other sub 6 second 0-60 cars cost so much. Its not cheap to make that much power reliably. If you are serious about doing this stuff, I and other's in the forum will help in any way we can. In the end its not about how much the car is worth but how much fun you have building, driving and owning your particular machine. I have seen people sink tens of thousands into camaro's that were only worth a few thousand dollars...its nothing new.

And I became a mod about 2 weeks ago, diggin' it so far, thanks

Unless I misread that, but did that SC just do a quarter mile in under 8 seconds?!?! 0.0 Holy hell, that is fast!

What exactly are they doin to the car that gets that much power? Turbocharging it?

Anyway, again, Army, congrats! I'll PM you sometime today or tomorrow, I got a midterm to study for tonight.
