If you had $30k - $35k to buy any car in the world, what would you buy?

I love my IS too much to think about that. But just answering your question, I would buy a used 2009-2010 BMW 328i coupe with sport package. I want a black or blue exterior with red interior.

Why not? Some people prefer to give up some power if it means they'll gain something else.
I would gladly downgrade to 250hp in my GS400 if I could get more steering feedback in return. It'll make my car more enjoyable because the car would still have enough power to get around.

I just don't understand on what he'd gain though. His IS gets just as good mileage as an 09-10 328i, and personally, I find the interior of the Lexus to be much nicer than the bmw, but that's just me.

Honestly I would either get a very cheap car thats excellent on gas or purchase an AMG. I wouldn't purchase any luxury car without an warranty.

A lot of people like the driving characteristics of the 3-series. It's something you cannot compare on paper. To me, the IS and 3-series handles very much alike, however it's the feedback that sets the two cars apart. The 3-series just feels more connected to the road. I much prefer communication vs raw power.

For me with my situation right now, it'd have to be a current model highlander 4wd or current 4runner 4wd with third row seating. Need a family hauler with some off-road capability for camping and fishing trips and still return over 20mpg.
Although it only seats five, a prius would also be nice as well.
