For me it's just the potential opportunity cost issue where Lexus is using it's resources on things like this instead of making a new SC a priority.

As a man who has a baby now and another on the way I welcome these vehicles that allow drivers to have their cake and eat it too. Even though we have kids and need the functionality and room, we still would love something sporty looking and special.

RX is their number one selling product and deserves the resources before something like an SC. That is the unfortunate truth.
I see your point of view, but bolstering RX sales and maybe selling 5K more of them because of the F Sport package actually bodes better for an SC replacement, not worse.

Lexus needs to grow and expand (having your cake and eating it too). The RX folks can have more choices with more options such as F-Sport accessories and items and on the flipside Lexus needs to bring back the SC moreso now with a vengence...

By next year, there will be:
CT F Sport
IS F Sport
IS F
GS F Sport
RX F Sport
LFA
...and probably, LS F-Sport.
Three years ago, there were none of those (maybe ISF had just come on the scene). Lexus' commitment to F Sport is really awesome and the RX is an important part of the big picture. When people start to recognize F Sport RX, IS, GS, etc, it creates better recognition for the F brand and leads to cars like GSF, LSF, SCF down the line.
RX wearing an F Sport badge, depending on how they do it, could be very, very good.
CT F Sport

GS F Sport

That red leather GS is awesome. So is the sepia colored GX interior. If Lexus wants consumers to have more choices they should add more colors to the ones currently offered for all models.

I say it would be a good move.. Not only would Lexus continue with the F-sport trim/package but make it available to all models to give the customer a choice in options.. Young or old people looking for a SUV would make there way to the RX if came from the factory like in the Japan pic.
