Happy 100th Birthday, Chevrolet!
![](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2011/11/2011-chevrolet-centenn85.jp.jpg)
One hundred years is a long time. But over the past couple, several automakers have marked their centenaries, among them Ford, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bugatti... and Chevrolet. The Bowtie brand has been marking its milestone birthday with a number of celebrations throughout the year, and doesn't plan on stopping any time soon.
Among the initiatives General Motors has planned for its mainstay brand is the launch of a documentary entitled Chevy 100: An American Story that debuts today at the Detroit Institute of Arts and will air coast-to-coast on Discovery's Velocity Channel on November 21.
The company will also erect a monument at Louis Chevrolet's birthplace of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland (who knew?), while Chevy owners in South Korea set the Guinness World Record for the creating the world's largest car logo out of their own automobiles.
As part of the celebrations, Chevrolet is also asking owners and enthusiasts like yourself to recall their favorite Chevy memories and experiences, which we invite you to share in our comments section. Don't forget to check out the history retrospective in the video

For most of us older guys, the 1957 Chevies, the early-mid-60s Impala SS models, and, of course, the 60's Corvette Sting Rays probably bring back some of the best memories. ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

The early-60s Corvair, 71-75 Vega, and 80 Citation (all classic junk) bring back some of the worst.![Mad](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)
A shame, too, because the Citation combined efficiency with FWD in a decent-size car.....but its engineering and (especially) build-quality was way below-par.

HBD Chevy, I'm going to have to go dig out my favorite shoes to celebrate!
We had a Vega 'Camback' (small station wagon version) with a two-speed Powerglide transmission, great fake wood paneling on the sides and an awesome blue interior the color of denim when I was in elementary school . Also lots of good times had in my HS buddies Chevy Silverado pickup truck as well, that thing was a loud beast of a vehicle; great for offroading, even in the city![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
