Tom Cruise has strong vehicular skills. One need only recall the moment he nearly flipped his ride on Top Gear to prove that.

And of all the excellent runarounds he's had the pleasure of driving on screen, his 2054 red Lexus in Minority Report could be the coolest.

Joyous news, then, that it's up for sale and at £15,000 ($25,000) it's sort of (not at all) worth considering. Alas, it is basically just an empty shell [see image 4] and auctioneers are hoping that a film fan will buy it and work it up into a road-worthy condition.

In the movie, the vehicle runs on fuel cells and can be driven not only horizontally but also, badass-style, vertically. Advanced safety features included a crash-proof structure and biometric security systems.

The car is owned by a private collector who has made it available for sale at auction at Bonhams in California on Saturday. Eric Minoff, from Bonhams said: "When Steven Spielberg was making the film he was driving a Lexus and asked them to produce a futuristic design.

"The outside is in a better condition than the inside and there is only a little engine so it can be moved around. But it is a great-looking thing and there will be fans of the film who would like it. It does make quite a statement."

I hope the person who buys it brings it to a shop and throws in a nice engine. That would be a FUN car to drive around in if it's street legal Or even trailer it to a track and have some fun

You don't have to be rich to come up with $25k to stick that into your garage You do have to be rich to turn it into a fully functioning street legal road car.
