Nothing better then the windows down and sunroof (moonroof) open and warm summer night in Down Town Chicago.

Well besides a convertible and a bike lol.

That's what my SC430 is for too, funny how that work, I either want the entire roof gone or completely close.
if you think about it, that's true. look at all-season tires

A fully open convertible is best for a warm summer night, all windows down and sunroof open is just not open enough.

So I was stopped next to a facelifted S63 yesterday at a light, it got that start/stop feature. Light turn green, it's engine started up like a cold start and it being a 63 it came with a loud roar. WOW, I would hate that! It start up like that at EVERY stop? Start/stop is ok on an electric hybrid where the car get moving from the electric power and the gas engine start up very softly by the electric motor/generator. But a loud V8 starting up by the starter at every stop, that blows. But at least I think the function can be disable.

^I also wonder how that wears on your starter over time.

My granddaughter prefers my son in law and daughter's S550 over the LS460L they traded in.

More use must equal shorter life. The manufacturers don't care, it would last as long as the warranty period.

His black '08 only has 17K miles and looks like new.
Even has a clear bra in front and the rear bumper cover.

My son in law found out it was owned by a Professor at Boston college.

I am a fan of start / stop on hybrid where the engine start up very softly by the electric motor...........almost feels like a very gentle push start once the car is rolling............. and I want the car to be quiet like on a Prius, 450h, 600h.

But on gas only performance car like S63, M3, Ferrari California, Panamera...........I think it is stupid. Who want to turn off the engine on a Ferrari during a drive? The engine roar is one of the few main reasons people pay so much money for a Ferrari!

Absolutely agree, the start/stop function should be in the intended fuel saving cars not the higher end performance luxury cars.

Thank you.

Start/stop function make sense on a LS600hL and S400, but not on a S63

I understand though, with the CAFE standard, they have to do everything that can gain MPG.

Now that I think about it though, now I know why they do that. So they put it on the car to have the higher MPG rating, but the function can be disable. So they get to keep the V8s and V12s.

Ok, I'll stop complaining now

the idea behind it has been obvious man, come on but i surely hope they have a way to disable it

not to mention on my 07, when i start the car it will stay with the last driving mode, standard or comfort. but in the new ones, it always start in comfort (i think car starts in 2nd gear). again, it's for all those standards
