Here's the new Toyota Touch & Go telematics system utilized in Europe and in the new 2012 Avensis. There are three options: Touch, Touch & Go and Touch & Go Plus. It's a shame that we don't get many of the cool features for Entune here in the USA. Namely Google Search & 3D mapping. Google > Bing as far as search engines go.

I think the system is a great idea but I think the system is too new to tell if it will do well in the current form.

While I really like the idea of listening to any radio station, there are a few things that make me shake my head.

1. Why would I need to know the weather in some other citiy 2000 miles away. Seriously, I check the weather on Blackberry phone as of right now, but I have felt the need to look up some other city.

2. I don't think I have ever thought of the need of buying movie tickets from my car.

3. How many of really make reservations for restaurants these days? Did people really call ONstar for this?

i guess you would be happy with Yaris with no radio... why radio when you can plug your iphone earphones!

Options there are for various people... imagine if your computer could only browse 0.001% of the internet... because you dont need more!


main point of this is not just apps, but complete touch screen multimedia system with backup camera, iphone support, bluetooth music/phone supports, etc, etc.

 

Looks laggy as hell. Good idea though.


Also how can the AVENSIS of all cars get 3D maps while the new gs gets stuck with a conventional 2d map?

 

No edits on CL mobile. As for the reservations, any high end or popular restaurant will likely require or strongly recommend reservations. Opentable is my friend

How come the M37/56 gets stuck with no rear view shade or no side view blinkers? We can nitpick any car for something one has the others don't.

In all seriousness, I'm glad toyota is introducing this. Just make it a bit more fluid (I would expect it to with upcoming updates) and bring over 3D map modeling to North America.
