2015 Cadillac ATS Sedan caught during a commercial shoot [video]
Will be introduced later this year
Cadillac recently announced the 2015 ATS Sedan would be given a minor facelift and one of our readers has managed to catch the model while it was being filmed in Canada.
Following in the footsteps of the 2015 ATS Coupe, the ATS Sedan adopts a new front bumper with a revised grille that features the company's controversial wreathless crest. Additional changes are limited but the model will be offered in two new colors including Crystal White Tricoat and Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic.
The cabin will also receive revised upholstery and trim combinations as well as additional safety and convenience features. Notable highlights include Siri Eyes Free compatibility, a Text Message Alerts function (which can read text messages aloud) and a Teen Driver function which enables owners to set a radio volume limit and a speed warning between 40-70 mph (64-112 km/h) - among other things. The model can also be equipped with a new Cadillac DockSpot inductive charger which can recharge compatible smartphones wirelessly.
An official unveiling is scheduled for July or August, so stay tuned for full details.

The 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe was the first model to ditch the brand’s old emblem featuring the laurel wreath, and now the 2015 ATS Sedan is also adopting the new logo. Cadillac has quietly released a new photo gallery featuring the 2015 ATS Sedan, which features a new front fascia with a revised front grille that incorporates the new wreathless logo.
Another change is the continuous lower air dam sporting a chrome trim strip. Cadillac has also introduces two new colors, Chrystal White Tricoat and Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic, as well as subtle interior upgrades including revised color and trim combinations including semi-aniline leather and suede microfiber-accent interiors.
The 2015 ATS Sedan also gets Siri Eyes Free compatibility, a Text Message Alerts function that can read text messages aloud, as well as a Teen Driver function that allows users to set a radio volume limit and a speed warning between 40-70 mph (64-112 km/h). Additionally, the Lane keep assist system has been added to the Driver Awareness Package and Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system now includes DockSpot wireless phone charging from Powermat.
As for the engines, the 2015 ATS Sedan will be available with the same units, a 202hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 272hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 321hp 3.6-liter V6. The turbocharged engine’s peak torque has been increased by nearly 14 percent over 2014 models, for a total of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm).

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe spied wearing full-body camo at the 'Ring
Click here to view more photos
To go up against the BMW M4 Coupe
A prototype of the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe wearing Michigan plates has been spied in Germany in the near vicinity of the Nürburgring.
The BMW M4 Coupe is about to face a worthy competitor coming from North America as Cadillac is preparing an ATS-V Coupe. A prototype wearing fully-body camouflage was spotted near the 'Ring hiding a significantly more aggressive body with a different front grille, beefier front bumper, more aerodynamic side skirts and a big rear spoiler. Other ingredients on the menu include a high-performance braking system as well as a sportier suspension and a menacing quad exhaust arrangement.
Various reports are indicating the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe will be offered with a V6 3.2-liter engine rated at 500+ bhp (373 kW) but some are saying it will get a twin-turbo V6 3.6-liter generating 425 bhp (317 kW). It is believed an ATS-V Plus equipped with a V8 engine is also in the works as a range-topping model and all of these engines should work with a standard seven-speed gearbox or an optional eight-speed automatic.
Expect an official reveal to occur sometime next year as a 2016MY.

Cadillac ATS-V sedan spied on the Nurburgring
Click here to view more photos
Could be introduced early next year
Yesterday our spies caught the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe and today they're following up with pictures of the ATS-V Sedan.
Snapped undergoing testing on the Nürburgring, the BMW M3 competitor has an aggressive front fascia with a revised grille and larger air intakes. We can also see a ventilated hood, high-performance brakes and a larger rear spoiler. The model has also been equipped with a rear diffuser and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.
There's still some debut on what will power the car but the leading candidate is a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 which is already in use the CTS and XTS VSports. However, previous reports have indicated the engine could be upgraded to produce approximately 425 bhp (317 kW).

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Sedan spied testing on the ‘Ring doing some air time [video]
Could be shown in January 2015 at NAIAS
A prototype of the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Sedan has been spotted testing on the Nürburgring and doing some air time in the process.
We haven't seen an American car being that much tested around the Nürburgring but Cadillac is focused to make the 2016MY ATS-V Sedan a true rival for the new BMW M3 F80 and the upcoming C63 AMG. The camouflaged prototype seen here was being pushed quite hard around the Nordschleife and a couple of times you can see the wheels are all up in the air.
Sporting a more aggressive body, the ATS-V will carry a brand new front grille that appears to be quite large and boasts many vertical slats. There's also a power bulge, beefier air vents and a stiffer sports suspension matched with larger alloys. At the back we notice a prominent spoiler together with a quad-pipe exhaust system.
We don't know the identity of the engine but there are two main suspects: a 425 bhp twin-turbo V6 3.6-liter and a newly developed 500 bhp twin-turbo V6 3.2-liter. Some say there will also be a V8 version with more than 500 bhp for an ATS-V Plus model while gearbox choices for the entire ATS-V Sedan and Coupe range will include a standard seven-speed manual and an optional eight-speed auto.
Expect a public debut in January 2015 at NAIAS in Detroit, with sales to kick off several months later.

Wheelbase extended by 85mm
Cadillac has released the first official images and details of the ATS-L (long wheelbase) which will be commercialized exclusively in China.
While the regular ATS is being imported, the longer ATS-L will be locally produced and will feature a wheelbase stretched by 85mm to 2860mm, even though reports indicated a 100mm stretch. The overall length has increased from 4644mm to 4730mm while width has gone up by 19mm to 1824mm. Compared to the standard ATS, the L version sits 6mm lower at 1421mm and is equipped with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
The design has remained virtually the same with the exception of the longer rear doors while under the hood is a 2.0 SIDI direct-injection turbocharged gasoline engine with 279 PS (205 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 6.2 seconds. There's also a V6 3.6 with 320 PS (235 kW) and both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Scheduled to go on sale later this year, the Cadillac ATS-L will not feature the new logo and is estimated to carry a starting price of around 270,000 yuan (about 43,650 USD).

Cadillac Launching Wireless Phone Charging Pad along with 2015 ATS
Charging your phone with fiddly plugs, cords and bulky chargers will be a thing of the past, says Cadillac.
The now wreathless brand is on the verge of launching a new way to wirelessly infuse your device’s battery with juice. Called the “Powermat,” it’s an idea that’s been in development for a few years now and is finally ready to make its public debut.
The tech is set to debut with the revised ATS, refreshed for 2015. What Cadillac has done is allocated a certain (rubberized) area of the center stack for this charging purpose, and you can simply place your (supported, compatible) phone on it and, like they want to do with cars, power is replenished. It’s located behind a storage bin located behind “the fully motorized center instrument panel faceplate.”
One of the reasons the company decided to go ahead and include it in the ATS package was because, according to Ryan Sanderson, associate director, Power Supply & Storage Components at IHS Technology, “a recent survey from IHS revealed that 70 percent of consumers charge their mobile phone at least once per day, with 30 percent charging more than once.”

My Nexus 5 has it built in (many of the androids do now) and it worked flawlessly with the ATS.
But yes as others have said, this feature is already on the market in a number of vehicles like the Avalon, tons of Chrysler products, etc.
