2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5L SEL Premium
#19
My 2cents:
EXTERIOR
On pictures it looks hopelessly bland. In real life it still looks very conservative but relatively powerful with its wide stance. Styling details give the car a respectable presence. It doesn't look any more modern or futuristic than the B6 Passat, but it is different.
INTERIOR
It looks like a carbon copy of the B6 interior. That said, if VW's mission was to bring the price point down for the US market, it seems like they succeeded. According to reviewers (I'd really like to check one out in person sometime), materials quality seem to be on par with VW's recent history, unlike the Jetta which screams cheap louder than the inline-5.
POWERTRAIN
The inline-5 seems to be the most hated VW powertrain still available. Everyone says it sounds like it's overworked and is generally unpleasant. TDI and 3.6 V6 are where it's at.
