SRT releases mysterious second teaser for next gen Viper
SRT releases mysterious second teaser for next gen Viper
SRT, the recently formed standalone brand of Chrysler, is determined to reveal the new 2013 Viper nice and slow. After releasing the first teaser image last month and offering a first look at the new 'Stryker' Viper logo, SRT has just posted a second teaser image of the 2013 Viper on their official Facebook page. While this second photo is much more clear than the first, what exactly is shown in the image is up to debate. Yes, it looks to be a carbon fiber scoop, but what kind?
While we may not know exactly what's in the second Viper teaser, here's what we do know about SRT's next gen flagship: Traction control will be used for the first time in the model's history as mandated by federal law, and while the 2013 Viper's powertrain is still unconfirmed, there are rumors that the V10 could get a bump in displacement to an incredible 8.7 liters.
We'll have all the details and photos when the 2013 SRT Viper is revealed during April's New York Auto Show. Until then we're sure that SRT will have more teasers, which we'll be sure to pass along.

2013 SRT Viper Leaked by Hot Wheels
2013 SRT Viper Leaked by Hot Wheels
Hot Wheels released a list of thumbnail preview images of its upcoming toy cars and mixed in all of it was what they titled as a ’13 Viper. And while skeptics might believe that they took a little liberty in determining the design of their toy car, Hot Wheels has a reputation of generating very accurate models.
It is without a doubt what many would envision the next-generation Viper to look like – aggressive, sleek body lines, without abandoning the traditional and infamous shape of the Viper model. Either way, it’s the best that we can get and it will be rather interesting just how accurate this model toy car image is to the real thing.

Lots more pics in the gallery:

There seems to be an endless stream of spy shots scrolling across out digital desktops here at Autoblog, and some will invariably be more interesting than others. But few are as hotly anticipated as the new Viper that's coming roaring around the corner.
So far, all Chrysler has given us is a shadowy sketch, a close-up detail shot, and the new badge that will represent the model, joining the test mule spy shots we've been seeing for the past several months and the Hot Wheels leak we brought you yesterday. But this latest batch of spy shots appears the clearest yet – despite the best efforts of the SRT development team (including a Dukes of Hazzard-style hood slide that compelled KGP Photography to do a quick bit of wry image manipulation).
So what can we see from these pics? Ventilation, and lots of it. There is a pair of massive hood vents that pass air through the grille over the hood like you'd expect to see on a Le Mans race car. And through the mesh on Dolly Parton-size hood bra you can see a pair of uprights in the grille forming a V shape that's a slight departure from the crosshair grille of the previous Vipers. (Remember, this is technically an SRT product and – like the Ram trucks – no longer a Dodge.)
We're also seeing the clearest shots yet of the interior, with what looks like a full digital dashboard (complete with 220 mph speedo) instead of analog instruments.

To me it looks terrible but of course that is just from the Hot Wheels picture. However, based on information from Viper owners that have seen real sneak peaks of the car from a slide show at some events, the picture is a pretty close rendition to what they have seen. Kind of bummed, if they had even made it look like the old competition coupe it would have been a winner.

Real pics of the Hot Wheels 2013 Viper. It actually looks better than the pictures of the Hot Wheels car. It looks like a modern version of the GTS.

A couple more hours and we will see the real thing and hear the specs on this thing. I like it, looks like a modern version of a Gen II Viper. Many people, including myself, complained about how the Gen III/IV didn't have the curves and as the Ralph Gilles said, it looks like a naked woman on a beach. So the Gen V is going to have more of the hour glass shape like the Gen I/II and from someone I know that actually drove the car, it's interior looks amazing (for a Viper) and the back end is nice and wide, wider than the GTS.
As for the pricing, many people will be happy as it is not going to be as much as some people are predicting unless you load it up with options which will be many. Hopefully they announce pricing today because I've had a hard time holding it in for the last month.
