I don't know the details of the Alphard but it does look higher end then a Sienna Limited. The Alphard is made for the JDM market, of course it is all JDM.
The Alphard looks similar size to the Sienna we have, it looks smaller inside mainly due to the huge captain chair I think.
I always think there is a market here if Lexus market a minivan here in the $60k range with GS level of materials and luxury accommodations. A fully loaded Sienna Limited is already $50k. I see tons of Sienna Limited in my hood.

fwiw though, i strongly believe that alphard can have a strong market here in the US. but evidently toyota thinks otherwise

it's not small by our (asian) standard but for american the inside is not as spacious as sienna, especially the width. i think that's the main reason.

As seen by the American market only Corolla, Camry, Civic and Accord. And how the JDM only models don't sell well here.........the Japanese Accord (TSX), 2004 Infiniti M45 (Nissan Gloria)........etc. They usually get criticized for being too small and styling is too weird.

You guys will find out, as you get older, that time goes faster and faster. Mr. Ho aged a lot, and I realize, so did I. BTW, I think it would be amusing for somebody to post the opposite of these cars, i.e. the little Chinese "jeep" type vehicle, built under licence as a copy of the old Soviet military vehicle. They had to buy the 4WD axles from the US, because the original ones could be grinding themselves to pieces at 2,000 km. Last time I was in Shen Yang I used to sit smoking a cigar and watch them go by, or should I say, HEAR them going by. LOL!
