If you think Buicks are boring, You need to drop by a Buick shop, take a couple of test-drives, and see what they are offering today. And, even back when they were (mostly) a Grandpa/Grandma car, a nice smooth ride and good noise-isolation, for a lot of people, was not necessarily boring.

If they would improve the back end, I'd like the design a lot more, but that butt is ugly!

What's ugly about it? The only think I think looks awkward is the way the taillight-assemblies look like an old Pac-Man.

this car is becoming a Buick. already bland and boring, and less elegant than the last model. clearly not targeted towards me. but yet people seem to be buying them in droves. like mindless Zombies!
The Camry has its target market, its not for you, it excels for its market. That said every generation gets sportier in SE form and with the Mazda 3, the CAmry SE is usually sportiest in class.

This version has been hailed as the sportiest in class so think about that. To a 911, yeah its a Buick.

The rear end is horrible,Mike.I think you'll see the Asian Camry full taillight on the refresh or sooner.
Also ugly is the gaudy chrome fog light trim( not on the SE) and front grill design.
As a former owner of a few Camry models,I'm very disappointed with the new exterior design.
I've also read it isn't as quiet nor ride as smooth as the last generation.

Well, OK.....I'll respect your opinon, as styling is, of course, objective. I don't find the rear-end so terrible, though, myself.

.

That's the case with a lot of new and exensively re-designed vehcles....I have written and posted many times on this subject. Automakers have become obsessed with low-profile tires, quick steering response, and stiffer suspensions. Ride comfort, in the traditional sense, is all but being ignored today.

Well on noise, sound deadening material is heavy, and with fuel economy now critical, i think car makers are dumping the sound insulation.

The 2012 SE definitely is easy on the eye in person. The interior looks nice.

Its always amusing to me that car makers that make some bland cars always seen to rely on some funky looking headlights/tailights to say "oh we added style". This Camry and Audi are notorious for it.

most cars today have side profile that is hard to recognize... heck, remove front grille and lights, as well as badges, and most people wouldnt guess most of the cars on the road today.
