No spindle front on 2013 IS
Ok, I just got word from my source at Lexus.
1. No spindle grille on 2013 IS. New model coming 2014
2. Lexus ES WILL have hybrid as well as 3.5 model. Spindle front. Will debut in July.
3. LS will debut in the fall as a 2013 model.
4. LX on sale in March.
That's all for now, will have more info soon.

I highly DOUBT that the IS won't have the spindle grille. It is supposed to be on every car. Like someone mentioned, it is already on the RX. What makes you think that the IS won't have it?

my dealer mentioned today about the ES coming in August, so i guess it's in the right ballpark.
if #1 turns out to be true, then the 2013 MY would be the last model year for 2IS, and in that case, i can see Lexus not bothering with another front fascia update at the very end of the cycle and just hold off till 3IS. After all, 2IS has had two facelifts already.

A very short 2013 cycle will be made with the current body/look with no spindle grille.

Those headlights are clearly the current IS headlights, but it has the spindle grill. This means the IS will be refreshed with the spindle grill before the new one comes (if there is one).

^ For all we know, the 3IS will have the same headlights as the 2011/12/13 models. They are pretty popular lights, I wouldn't be surprised if they get carried onto the next generation model. Or maybe there will be small tweaks to the 2011+ headlights that go onto the next gen IS, that you just can't see in that pic properly.

More info:
5. 2013 Rx will debut for sale summer 2012
6. Not all trim levels will have LED daytime running lamps. (Not sure if this was only regarding current 2012/2013 IS base)

Well I think the 2IS is one of the prettiest cars ever from Lexus. I'm also a fan of the spindle grill on the 4Gs, so I'm fine with a 2013 IS either way. If anything, I would prefer that the different models look different.
