Volvo already confirmed that its all-new V40 is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show, but French site L'Automobile apparently beat them to the punch with this singular, grainy shot of Volvo's new entry-level five-door.
If this is it, we likey, particularly the deep belt line that runs up and over the rear fenders and the two-tiered glass hatch. Things get a bit too busy in the back, but we'll reserve judgement until we see it in the sheetmetal in a few weeks.
Mum's the word on other V40 details, though reports have suggested a range of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel powertrains, the most powerful of which will likely be a 240-horsepower turbo unit sending power to the front wheels. Stay tuned for the full details in early March
When the curtains rise on the Geneva Motor Show in a couple of weeks, so will Volvo lift the veil on a vital new product: the V40. Replacing the C30, S40 and V50, the new V40 is the Swedish automaker's assault on the Audi A3, BMW 1 Series, et al.
We've had our glimpses at what to expect with a series of spy shots, a couple of teasers and a solitary rear three-quarter shot leaked yesterday, but with the V40's debut rapidly approaching, the Scandinavian motor press has hardly been able to contain itself, leaking a series of shots from the Swedish edition of Auto Motor und Sport.
The images are small and grainy, but from what we can see the new V40 looks rather shapely. The nose follows closely on the formula set down by the larger S60, the windshield looks steeply raked and the hindquarters rather tapered, so don't expect a lot of cargo space back there.
This makes a decent replacement for the V50 (less space albeit much more sporty than a V50), I can definitely see them spinning another S40 sedan off this in the future

They could. But again - where did you read confirmation on the C30 getting put out to pasture? All I heard and read were rumors but nothig official from Volvo

Was just quoting something, one of those "rumormills" probably not true. But the V50/S40 for sure
