Thanks. I didn't want to waste a Ford-sponsored test-drive for nothing, and, with the F-150's sales, I felt this was the best way to do it. I would have waited, of course, for the new 2013 Escape (as I have several CL review-requests for it), but it probably won't be released by the end of the sponsor-deadline (March 31).


I agree with Hoovey. The best body was the last generation. It was a smooth and coherent design with blended features. The new model's details stand out on purpose which looks cheaper.
The F-150, from sheer owner loyalty, seems to sell regardless of how it looks, although a change in design, of course sometimes can affect a truck's sales. The best example of that that i can remember was (arguably) the big change in the design of the Dodge Ram back in the mid-90s (1994, I think), when it went to that droop-fender, big-rig look. Ram sales took off that year, and it has been a credible contender ever since.....even more-so now with its new-found quality, fit/finish, and driving improvements.
