Default Rolls-Royce updates Phantom line for 2013

Ridiculously over the top in every way, but RR has a presence that is truly unmatched. I love seeing these cars.

On the eve of the 82nd Geneva International Auto Show, Rolls Royce pulled the sheets off its refreshed Phantom Series II family of cars, which include the four-door Saloon in both regular and extended wheelbase flavors, the Drophead Coupé and Phantom Coupé.

This is the first major facelift for the Phantom since the introduction of the series with the sedan model in 2003, which was followed by the convertible in 2007 and the coupe in 2008.

Looking at the Phantom Series II models, the first thing you'll notice is the subtle design changes up front that include new LED headlights and the replacement of the round spots right under with a very thin light strip. Rolls Royce claims that the Series II is the first production car to include full LED headlamps as standard.

The resculptured lower parts of the front and rear bumpers along complete the exterior revisions.

Moving on to the interior, there's a new satellite navigation system updated with functions that include 3D maps with landscape topography, guided tours and enhanced points of interest, as well as composite route planning, all of which are presented on a larger 8.8-inch display, while the British firm also improved the front, rear and top-view camera systems.

The drivetrain improvements concern the introduction of a brand-new 8-speed automatic gearbox along with a new rear differential, which Rolls Royce says help improve the V12's combined fuel consumption by 10 percent and reduce CO2 emissions from 388g/km to 347g/km.

This car is pure kitsch, from starlight sky to gauges and wood on droptop hood and trunk. Only Bentley is worse than this.

I somewhat agree. The cars are very nice but I don't see why people are so impress. But hey I can't afford one so it's out of my league.

You gotta see one up close. Astethics are subjective, but the attention to detail and materials used are bar none

Something about the front end of this update just screams "Chinese knock off" to me.

+1 on this.

The insane attention to detail that goes into building a Rolls Royce is amazing.

Gotta see it up close to understand what a Rolls Royce is all about
