Ford has officially served up the details on the upcoming 2013 F-Series Super Duty. Buyers will be able to snap up the latest work rig with in a new Platinum trim level that throws in niceties like SYNC, MyFord Touch, navigation and a rear-view camera as standard equipment. Power telescoping mirrors are also part of the package.

Unfortunately, the Platinum trim will only be available in Super Duty Crew Cab configuration. Even so, the cabin is swaddled in high-quality wood grain trim and premium leather seating. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is also heated for those really frosty mornings.

Outside, a smattering of chrome trim work sets the 2013 F-Series Super Duty Platinum apart from the rest of the trucks on the job site. Chrome door handles, mirror caps and running boards all add a bit of splash, as do the sizable 20-inch wheels that are newly designed for 2013.

Ford says the MyFord Touch at work in the new Super Duty is truck specific with features like a massive eight-inch touch screen display which has been optimized to function even when users are wearing thick work gloves.

I have never understood why a heated steering wheel or leather seats, or cooled, or a dvd screen are needed in a pick up truck.

it does get cold and hot where people with trucks go, and by dvd screen - do you mean nav, or a rear entertainment system? former is a no brainer for many work trucks but i'd agree the latter is a bit pointless, although many with f-250's pull horse trailers for example, with kids in the back (seats, not horse trailer ), so i guess it makes sense there.

Just another way for urban cowboys to drive the cost of work trucks up for everybody else.

in Houston, there's a lot of wannabe cowboys that drive these things to work....in an office building

Usually its a little dude hops out too, <5'6"

......no trailer hitch(es) so I know they're not going to the ranch on Saturday.

Yes, but I've noticed overtime that because so many of the loaded trucks are ordered, it becomes a real challenge to find a stripped truck, and even those are starting to get more and more of the luxuries. Take for example the demise of the manual transmission. A lot of people are still angry at Ford and GM for that. I understand of course that it's market forces at work, so the blame lies with the urban cowboys, not so much with the automakers. Another example is the rear suspension in the 2011+ Super Duty. Fords have long been known as the trucks with the heaviest suspension of the big 3. Now they sag worse than an old woman after 9 kids. This is because of people using these trucks as daily drivers, they wanted a softer, car-like ride, so to make it happen, Ford deleted a leaf spring or two from the rear. Now it rides like a cadillac, but hauls like a prius. The urbanites are happy, but the people who actually USE their trucks now have to spend extra $$$ to beef up the rear suspension to make it haul like it should have from the factory.

I intend to be a pickup truck owner someday(after college), but I also plan to use it. Definitely plan to have a camper of some sort in the future, as well as ATV's. Also plan to use it for around the house work, and would someday like to get into flipping houses. It would never be an office car, unless I couldn't afford to keep a second beater around.

f-250 now hauls like a prius? it's hard to take your post seriously.

That was a bit of hyperbole. It still hauls pretty decent, but not like it should. Where it once sagged the least of big 3, it now sags the most when a load is placed in the bed. Still not enough reason to make me go for a Chevy or a Dodge though, but it is a turn off for some.
