Default Lexus' UK Blog Suggests Affordable Coupe

Read it here: Lexus' UK Blog Suggests Affordable Coupe

No concrete information, but it's an interesting idea. After all, there hasn't been a coupe from Lexus in the last 6 years. It's a long time to leave the luxury coupe market alone, but hopefully, they've got plans on changing that in the future.

Even though Luxury version of the FR-S defeat the purpose of car, I would love to see Lexus builds it!

Add an electrice motor on the boxer engine to give some extra boost doesn't hurt too!

I would buy this in a hearbeat, a FR-S/BRZ, with more power with a turbo, and nice luxury, like power moonroof, leather, heated and power seats, bi-xeon headlights etc.., priced below a BMW 3 series is a sure winner !!

Toss the back seats and the boxer for a dry sumped 2GR.

I don't know, one would think that an affordable coupe based on the FR-S/86 would take sales from the IS.

I think if Lexus were to build the LF-LC it would be in the 60-70k range.

It would make more sense if Toyota made a Lexus version of the up coming hybird MR2 to compete with the Z4, SLK, and Boxster.

Most likely the LF-LC will be the next generation SC with a V8 and a V8 hybrid which will compete with the likes of the BMW 6 Series as it always has been. SC never competed with the 3 Series. Thinking:

SC 600h
SC 460

Most likely Lexus won't position the SC into the IS C territory...meaning no V6 for the SC. No SC 250 no SC 350..and that's fine with me.

I agreed with Trexus 100%

Also, the Lexus' UK Blog never said anything about FR-S do I don't even know where that is coming from.

You should wish Lexus make an IS coupe, and make it smaller and lighter than current gen then (using heavily modified FR-S chassis).

Lexus has offered the SC until what 2010, the IS C is present and the LFA has been here.
A true IS coupe is coming, no longer convertible only. I honestly think a Lexus FRS would do wonders to be a mini-LFA and fight the Cayman....Porsche continues to add more luxury to their cars.

This seems to be the 2nd "source" that has stated the LF LC if produced would be a 500hp hybrid

I like Trexus thinking.

100% agreed.

The SC430 was a direct competitor to the a 645i and SL500, is just that the SC430 never got updated and the Germans continuously got updated and upgraded to the 650i and SL550, so the gap got huge.

I love how people compare the SC430 to the G37 Convertible too, just because the peak power is similar

Exactly! Currently the Infiniti G37 sedan, coupe and convertible compete directly with the IS sedan and convertible...Lexus should bring in the IS coupe and blow the Infiniti G out of the water...

Oh yeah Lexus also has the IS F which competes with the BMW M3. Infiniti lacks a high perfermance sedan...

The problem with the IS is, the cabin is too small. And the car is not stylish enough. Those are the 2 main reasons people choose the G over the IS even though the G is lower quality. Obviously the G having a lower price helps too.

They got the G37 IPL, but is not in the same league. It is only the same level as a 335is M-Sport or IS350 F-Sport.

The only real SC successor is going to be closer to the Toyota Soarer 2.5L twin turbos which we never got in the United States. It pains me to think that they won't release it with a traditional manual transmission but that is likely to be the case. I'd like to think there is room in the new Lexus sporty lineup for some eccentricity-- especially considering the FR-S platform has been engineered around both a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

The SC replacement should be: no more than 3400-3600lbs, RWD, turbocharged, 2+2 seating like the original cars, FIXED HARD TOP COUPE like the original cars. This means only a sunroof as an option unless they also make a convertible version... but convertible only is no bueno. Seeing as how Soarers had Torsen LSD's as factory options as well... I'd also like to see that show up on the spec sheet. Again... since the FR-S platform has been engineered with an LSD on most models.... that's a no brainer.

Lexus loves hybrids now so that will probably be in the mix no matter what but it's about time we had a sporty, turbocharged Lexus from the factory.

Affordable can still be in the $30k-$40k range. Maybe $45k. That is also what the original 1992 SC's were priced at if you don't adjust for inflation.

As for the SC430... the build quality got better but the entire car had almost nothing to do with the lineage of the previous Soarer/SC's. I cannot see that as having any relevance to a new revival of the model.

I won't buy the next SC unless it's a hardtop convertible. Not saying I would get rid of my current one but I don't think the miss would approve of having two SC's.
