The GL550 ditches its naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V8 in favor of the twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 that is spreading like wildfire through Mercedes’ lineup. It produces 429 horsepower and a stout 516 lb-ft of torque, increases of 47 ponies and 125 lb-ft over the old mill.

The entry-level GL450 features a new, detuned version of the GL550′s motor that makes 362 horsepower and 406 horsepower.
that's what I wanted to know, what engine would be powering the entry level model since we all knew what the GL550 was getting

Yes! yes! Looks good and mean, but as everyone said, the rear taillights are too BMW.

Love the diamond stitched seats.

Now it's hard to choose between this and the LX570!

imho with current gen, gl wins on space and power, lx wins on luxury and details. with the new gl it would be interesting to revisit again

That seems fantastic to me. What a lovely interior. Still looks kind of butch and tough.

I don't care much for SUVs but this look pretty nice inside and out.

Yep yep, I never really feel the exterior of the last Gen GL and it was less luxury than LX570. But I Love how the new GL looks, especially the front, very mean and has good stance.

Glad to see that the interior finally matches the pricetag

This front end works on SUVs and looks good here. SL...not so much.

I like it!

Shame,,, and I used to like this truck too. Really not feeling the new front end treatment, and the back is, as stated, tooo BMW. Prefer the current gen to this one on looks alone. Have yet to drive one.

As a current owner of a 2011 GL, I like the new shape. It is not revolutionary but I will say that its a good refresh in comparo to the current model.

When we bought our 2011 GL450 last year, I was in the full knowing of the upcoming redesign and was able to get more than $10K off the MSRP purchase. We love it.

I really was hoping to be blown away but looks like I'll be keeping my GL. After the Range Rover, IMHO, it has the best looks for a FULL size SUV. On a related note, please don't get me started on the GX (exterior). What a disappointment.

The interior looks awesome, the diamond stitching is beautiful. I've never been a fan of MB SUVs. Just never looked quite right to me. I would still prefer the LX.

Not a big fan, I have mixed feelings on this overall. I think Mercedes is becoming confused styling-wise again. The exterior has a lot of hard edges, corners and creases, yet the headlights and taillights are bulbous and round. That is a design fail to me, when the head and taillight designs don't match the design philosophy of the rest of the interior.

Interior does look good, but that nav screen is tiny and it looks almost identical to other new Benz interiors.
