Watch a bus driver block escape of hit-and-run driver
There has been plenty of debate about whether bicyclists should be able to take up a lane typically reserved for motor vehicles. While that argument is far from settled, we can all agree that hit-and-run accidents between cars and bikes have got to stop.
At least one bus driver seems to agree with that statement, as evidenced by the action displayed in this video posted by the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania police department. The driver in question, a minor, faces multiple charges.
After seeing the bicyclist get hit, a quick-thinking bus driver can be seen blocking both traffic lanes, leaving the hit-and-run driver with nowhere to go. Well done.

I still disagree that bikes should be allowed on the road. You are telling me that a person (100-200lbs) + bike (20-40+lbs) < 300lbs should be given the same privileges as a motor vehicle? Roads, imo, should be reserved for MOTOR vehicles only. You want bikes on the road, give them bike only lanes and if there aren't any, well tough luck then.

I agree that the cyclist, simply being in the street, to start with, is questionable. In this case, there seems to be a lane, next to the street, protected by a wall, for pedestrians and cyclists.

Very glad the guy on the bicycle made it okay at least! But I definitely think they should not be allowed on the road like that. It's just a matter of their personal safety, when its a car vs a bicycle, the car will win. Always. This incident could have been a lot worse then it was had the car been going faster. Props to the bus driver for stopping the driver of that car from getting far too!

None of us are justifying the hit and runner, we're happy he got stopped. We're just saying that the cyclist should not have been on the road.
