well, i dont agree with your opinion, sorry. First of all I think it looks nice and then again even if you dont like the looks, since when did look be only definition of vehicle? How many vehicles would Toyota sell if you only purchased cars based on looks? Again, i think it looks good. But even if it was ugly, Rav4 has some good advantages over competition, especially in usability.
I have driven Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, BMW, VW utes in past few months and none of them are stunning cars that beat competition soundly. They all have quite few minuses, and none of them make me want to spend some money.

I agree, styling is subjective, but the Rav4 is a strong competitor and well rounded

You're being way too touchy about this. I simply expressed my reaction to the pictures (which is the only thing I can legitimately react to at this point). I simply said that in terms of looks and design the new RAV won't break from the pack of current offerings. That's all. I never said it looked bad or that I didn't like it. Our lives don't depend on this.

nope, none of those were available at the time my buddy went shopping for these and i got to assist. Here in Europe mags rave about CX-5 right now but I did not drive it (did sit and touch)... They have good diesels now thats for sure, although i think there is plenty to improve - for instance their nav is very outdated and looks are forgettable unless you stand next to it to appreciate the details. But it has to be a great car if german mags rated it better than Tiguan. However overall, it is very good package, especially here with good engines (unlike in US).

Several things standout from these pics:
1. Styling is evolutionary, not revolutionary (which is a good thing iMHO)
2. Back end looks like an MDX
3. Front end has large mouth, perfect for an intercooler and/or the spindle grill.
Look has matured a lot more from today's 4.3 gen. Here's hoping the new 4 bangers make an intro....

Definitely much better! Love that new shoulder line that extends from the rear all the way to the front. Gives it much more presence and isn't so feminine as today's RAV4.

Front end is a jumbled mouthfull and has no apparent theme. Back end has too much sheet metal showing where lights should be- GMC Terrain/Buick Rondevous style. Don't care for it. But I give props to Toyota for being one of the very few who continue to make manual gear lever shifting available or standard.
