Skip Barber School features IS Fs; 20% off for Lexus owners
Skip Barber features IS Fs in their High Performance Driving Schools.
I took the one-day class on March 10 at Laguna Seca and mostly learned that I have a lot more to learn. So I plan to go back for more abuse.
Last week I got the routine email ad from Lexus indicating a 20% discount at Skip Barber for Lexus owners.
The photo in the April 19 email ad looks suspiciously familiar.
The pix below the ad is me on March 10 in Skip Barber's Matador Red 2011 IS F.
Lexus ad (not me):
Me on March 10.
I will probably take advantage of the discount.
Note, I'm not affiliated with either Skip Barber or Lexus.
Thanks,

It's one of the finest race tracks I've ever been on. It was an incredible trip when I first bought my car, and I do plan on going back. The instruction before the hands-on activities really made driving the car more engaging and dynamic, and the knowledge gained has certainly helped in daily and spirited driving. I just wish it didn't have to end

Back at it for two days
So I had to learn more and went back for the Skip Barber 2-Day High Performance driving school on May 24 - 25 at the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey, CA.
After my first 1-day class last March, I had learned a lot but knew I needed to learn more, practice more and make sure the new driving habits being developed were correct.
After two more days (at this May 2-Day class), I'm still not close to being a great driver and or even the fastest among the students in my classes but I do feel like I am a much better driver. I now feel confident that I can take my IS F, or any other high-performance car, on any track and go fast, have fun and not get in trouble with or without an instructor riding along. Note this is a high-performance driving class and not a racing class. I'm not yet ready to race, which involves, you know, other cars on the track, but I don't plan to race.
Also, while somewhat expensive, this was a ton of fun. Everything is supplied (cars - including wear and tear and gas, helmets, track, skidpad, autocross, excellent and structured instruction, lunch and "bad coffee" to quote the instructor).
This time I drove the Lexus IS-F, Lotus Evora and Porsche Boxster on the autocross and the main track along with a surprise car (for Lexus fans) on the autocross; plus, lots more time on the skidpad in the Mazada 8s.
Here are some more pix for those interested. These were all taken on May 24 or 25, 2012 from my iPhone 4s camera (actually a decent camera). Most pictures are taken of other students driving while I waited for my turn.
Cars ready to go on the first day:
Surprise car on autocross:
Lotus Evora on autocross:
Day 2 in the rain, Lexus IS-F on autocross:
In the pits during track running:
Surprise car is pace car for track running:
My IS-F (silver) posed with Skip Barber's at the end of the second day:

Just for the record, Skip Barber has been using the IS-F since the original '08 MY.
I'm not sure they've ever had a specific IS-F program, but you can always call in and see if they can work out more (or even exclusively) IS-F time in their experience package.
