Honda surprises with wild Concept C and Concept S showcars in China

Honda has used the 2012 Beijing Motor Show to launch two new concept cars that it says "show the direction of mass-production models Honda will introduce to the market next year."

First up is the imaginatively named Concept C. According to the automaker, 'C' stands for "Cool, "Challenge" and "China." As much as we wish we were making that up, we aren't. The car itself, though, looks pretty bold, with striking character lines down each side and a fascia that would look right at home on the next Battlestar Gallactica spinoff. We're curious to see how much of the C's conceptual styling makes it into production when a mass-market version hits the Chinese market in 2013 – if it were toned down just a bit, we think Honda could do worse than inject some of this boldness in its American lineup, though some might suggest the grille has overtones of the controversial styling decisions seen at Acura.

Moving along, we have the Concept S, which supposedly stands for "Stylish," "Smart" and "Surprise." Like the Concept C, Honda says Concept S will spawn a production model that will debut in China in 2013, with global sales following thereafter. Honda isn't saying exactly what is powering the S other than mentioning it's a hybrid.

If they made Concept C the next Accord, I'd be on board

interesting concept. looks massive production ready.
HOWEVER, a real car will looks very washed down. something looks good on a sketch might not look good on the street. beside, the tail light is.. hmm. polarizing (well, they do look like Honda Lei Nian)

With some tweaking this C could be the next Accord creating the problem that it may look better than any Acura sedan.

I'm seeing CR-V in the Accord sedan concept. :\ Tone the lines down a bit it will be award winning car for years like the current Accord.

The concept C is REAL nice. And this has to be the next Accord sedan. If so, Honda has a winner.

This Concept C should be concept version of Accord Sedan. I'm not saying it's called Accord Sedan Concept.

Gotcha! It does look like a stretched Accord concept with 4 doors but if it is the Accord sedan concept, why wouldn't they just call it the "Accord concept" like they did the Coupe?

You know, it's Beijing Auto Show, everything is about mythical dragon and gold. Naming it Accord concept, and people will be like "oh, an Accord. Next?"

too Bold for Honda - even though it does look better than the Acura format. it will be toned down and scaled back before final production
