A tri-turbo 6 cylinder engine, yes. I'll take the extra torque and mod-friendliness of a turbo motor over an NA making the same power any day.

Why can't Toyota just give us a TT 2GR?

And some people prefer the naturalness and the sound of N/A Why can't BMW go back to N/A engines?

See what I did there?

I like the direction they are going. NA engine is much more responsive than FI especially turbo. Modern turbo might have a close to lag free, but it still doesn't have that feel you have with NA.

How many people would add 300hp to their already too much power IS-F? I think they will just add power to compensate with wider tires they put in the car, that's all.
And V8 NA sounds so much better than angry bird V6 turbo.

If the new 3.5L or its replacement is over 350hp, it's obvious for me to go for it with F sport package. 6spd MT optional please, but I won't hold my breath.

Honestly, I don't like the renders I've seen so far. I don't love the headlights (too big and not slick or agressive enough) and that render looks like they chopped the car after the front door ends and slapped the rear of a scion tc on it. I don't think Lexus will go in that direction or at least I hope not.... it's going to be better looking

I do hope they get at least a coupe version, never loved convertibles so I'm not worried about it but definitely would like to see a coupe

that doesn't make any sense lol

I'm gonna assume you meant "current". And no it won't have 350hp. Odds are it'll be the same as it is now at 306 or it'll get the output of 316 like in the Toyota Mark X. IF Lexus were to make a new powertrain I'd be willing to bet it'd be a bored and stroked 2GR motor. The current engine even at 306hp and 277lbft is very relevant even compared to today's competition. Point in case the GS350 which beat out the 535i, M37, and A6.

Honestly not sure why so many people are against the DI 3.5L which more than well holds its own. Do I really need to bust out the torque numbers again??!!

NO other 3.5 can match its torque numbers let alone many competitors with larger displacement

Lexus IS350....................3.5L V6.....306hp.....277lbft
Lexus GS350....................3.5L V6.....303hp.....274lbft (2012 model)
MBZ C-Class.....................3.5L V6.....302hp.....273lbft

For what its worth, it'll probably be paired with the quick shifting 8-speed automatic across the board

couldn't agree more. 2GR 3.5L is a wonderful motor. It was groundbreaking when it debuted seven years ago, and still holding its own to this day.

Yup, I mean current. And yeah the engine was fine 7 years ago and it's still fine now, but why not make it better? If they still use the current one, it will not get 350hp because they are tuning engine for reliability. Same engine with bigger displacement is different story. I was just replying to previous poster about 350hp though. I never think about that before since it would be too close to IS-F.

Forget about the rendering considering the source, renderings from Japanese car magazines are often way off

I think they can and should boost the power of the 3.5L V6 to at least 320-325 as well as giving the motor the 8 speed transmission. They need to step it up to meet the class standards in power. Its not going to be an insane boost in power but it needs to be there

The current IS-F is already a worthy M3 competitor. Saying otherwise is hogwash.

I wouldn't trust a thing this article states and the headlights in the picture look way too homely to be real.

What else... adding a coupe body is a no-brainer. That should have been done with the current model instead of wasting time with the convertible which no one is buying.

As far as what to expect, expect the BEST. You better believe Lexus is hot right now with their new products.

Yeah, 20hp more should be good. It would be lame to update 7 years old engine with 5 more hp. 8speed does sound fine in the paper, but in real driving, I don't know.

@Fizzboy7: Yup, the current IS-F is already competitive. It's very close the the current M3.
