Default New Jersey Death Race

Were any Club Lexus Members in this caravan? I didn't see any LFA's!

Those NJ state troopers were suspended.

NJ state troopers suspended over alleged high-speed escort for luxury sports cars
By Ian Johnston, msnbc.com

Two state troopers have been suspended over allegations they provided an “unauthorized escort” to a group of sports cars -- including one driven by football star Brandon Jacobs -- driving at high speeds in New Jersey.

The convoy of cars, including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and others, traveled at speeds in excess of 100 mph down the Garden State Parkway to Atlantic City last month, according to The Star-Ledger newspaper. They also traveled on the New Jersey Turnpike and Atlantic City Expressway.

The paper said witnesses had made complaints to police about the caravan -- which one witness dubbed "Death Race 2012" -- saying they saw patrol cars with emergency lights flashing at the front and rear of the sports cars.

The Star-Ledger also obtained amateur video footage of a caravan of luxury cars allegedly being escorted by state police at high speed on the Garden State Parkway in 2010. It is not known which officers were involved in this convoy.

Nice parade of cars, but probably not such a great idea to be doing a high speed caravan on public roads.

I think its was pretty cool. Didnt look to dangerous plus they had an escort. I would have been screaming like those kid too if I saw a line of exotics. 100mph is not that fast. People need to relax. Most people are cruising at 75-85 where I live.

How is it a "Death Race" if no one died, no one raced, and they pretty much stayed in a single file in the left lane? Looking at that video I dont see much weaving in and out of traffic, or exotics blowing past slower vehicles like they were standing still. Looks like those taking the video and driving the EVO are the worst offenders.

Im not saying that these drivers are innocent (tape over plates, escort that was not approved etc), just seems like a little bit of media hype to create a bigger story.

According to the Newark Star Ledger, the caravan in the video is from a 2010 incident, not the "Death Race."

according to the local news, the caravan was going so fast with some of the local traffic had trouble moving out of the way, which was why the escorts were suspended: not only were they not authorized, but they also did not escort in a manner that was safe to the general public.

Just my observation... but this was pretty tame. I would call this more a cruise than a race. The folks filming were the only folks being dangerous. Im not a huge fan of cops, sure they should have known better but I think they are better things to get suspended for. 100 mph is not fast for these types of cars... but breaking the rules is breaking the rules. They could probably afford to "rent" street time if they really wanted to. Reminds me of Bullrun rally.

Yeah. With Chris Christie governing the state now, he doesn't put up with any nonsense. Screw up, especially wearing a uniform, and you're out.
