Although not the fastest or best-handling of the group, it's hard, IMO, to beat the S5's looks. It is gorgeous. Same with the XKR, though it generally costs a lot more....it might bust the 100K limit the OP set.

I agree about that S5. I just can't stop looking at it when I see one passing. Interior is nice and it has all the leg room I fantacize about. Two things keep it from being higher on my list: the power in relation to it's cost and the AWD. Not a fan of it.

I know the XKR is going to be a little over 100K but it sounds like the OP would be fine with it...for the right car.

If I had $100k for a sportscar, I'd look real hard for a used R8.

And spend as much in repairs as the car cost used

R8, new or nothing...

And as for the Viper, this new one is much more refined so it won't beat you up like its predecessors did.
Oh, thanks, I failed to read the fine print.

As for the Viper that's easy to believe, they HAD to do something!

OK, I thought we had this conversation before & you were pro Porsche then. I have never driven a GTR or GT3, although I have driven a GT2, but if you like the GT3 I think you will hate the GTR unless you are looking for a fast & comfotable cruiser. I like the C5 & C6 for that. As someone else mentioned 2013 Boxster S available in June could be nice compliment to the GT3 & Boss Mustang handles amazingly too.

You didn't say new, gently used, very used...

But you could pick up a Ferarri 360 for under $100K.

Yeah, yeah...repair costs...blah, blah, blah...maintenance.

This is a guy who drives a 997.2 GT3...and is talking about dropping 6 digits on a weekend, sunny-day toy. He ain't cashing in his foodstamps, waiting at the mailbox for his welfare check to arrive.

My vote is for the GTR or Viper. These are the two I am considering next and even though they are completely different, both are great performers.

My opinion

1. GTR
2. New Viper once pricing is released.

I won't even consider a sedan.

I think he did mention "new" car.

"Its about that time again. I'm itching for a new car. Set my limit at $100k for a fun, fast sporty NEW car, but it certainly doesnt have to be that expensive. Heck, I even considered the new Subaru BRZ for a minute. I don't really have any requirements for it. It will be primarily a weekend car that will be taken on mountain drives with friends and such. It may even see some track duty. Some days it will be driven to work or the grocery store. Cars I have been considering are...
E92 m3: maybe a little too common. Must be revved high to "feel" the power cuz it lacks torque, but a good all around car with nice interior.
2013 gt500: 650 hp and 600 lb-ft torque intrigues me.
Z06: performance. Interior and seats
2013 Viper: need more info on msrp and availability but it looks good
And the car that is at the top of my list right now,2013 GT-R, updated with 545 hp. This car seems to defy physics considering its size and weight. Maybe not as "fun" to drive with the computers doing all the work. I know cars are not investments but resale values on GTR's are pretty good.
I can't believe I'm considering an American vehicle, let alone one from each of the big three US manufacturers
What other cars would you guys consider? Not interested in any Porsches or Mercedes'. I'm asking here, because this seems to be the most mature crowd of all the car forums I visit, without all the fan boys.

The new Ford Super Dropping Pantys Cobra Shelby.....then maybe a Jag XKR to be different....

To me the GT-R was a darling around 70k, at 100k yes its still technically a value but thats a lot of coin

New M6 starts at 105k....
