I can get 27 plus driving like I stole it in town, at 33mpg at 80mph on the highway.. The car is truly remarkable.

There is no reason to fear or hate the hybrid. 10 years from now we will all be driving, tuning and customizing them.

And ya, if you own any car for 20 years you can drive the depreciation numbers down... that was my point. Most people trade in their car after 10.
If you want to save money on transportation, the best way is to either drive your car forever, or buy cars that have zero worth and throw them away when they break. Most people do neither. Most people buy new (or newish) cars for all kinds of reasons other than economics.

I'm not sure, in 10 years, we'll even be driving them. More and more experiments are being done with self-driving vehicles and roadways.

Yep....and reliability is one of the best reasons. Who wants to break down in the middle of a seedy neighborhood at 2 AM?

I've seen the photos... Hope to see it in person one day. A stunning car.

I drove a buddy of mine down to a Microsoft event in Redmond last week, he owns a E550. He couldn't stop commenting how quiet refined and comfortable my car was, (I think the tires are noise as a jet engine) he was blown away from technology in the car and the quality of the appointments.

When i showed him that this 4200 pound car was cruising I5 at 75 mph at a constant 7.3 l/100km (~32mpg) he just about crapped his pants.
