nah thats if you dont shop for the right one, the 01's had some recals like rod bearing issues, double vanos issues etc etc.. all easilyyy fixed thats not to say even to stay away from '01s ya know! if you get one that has been well maintaned you have nothing to worry about.. but overll 2002-2006 are a better buy because the '01s dont have as good of resale.. mine is a 2002 but looks like an 06 !! lol

in my case I am the second owner, the first owner a very wealthy man that had this as a one of many extra cars so most of the time it sat in a climate controlled garage never getting baked in teh sun nor ever getting abused.. interior is mint.. I got so lucky because Ive know the previous owner for years and have always been around this car since when he first got it .. it is optioned perfectly as an M3 should be, it has the RARE manual seats and M Cloth/leather nappa interior This is my 3rd e46 M3 and this one is a step above all of my previous ones.. i LOVE this one!! and I know it is to each their own but I think the mods I have done have made it look really sick!!! wish I could show you guys this thing in person.. SICK in person

It's rumors. And yes it CAN cost you a lot of money, right shop, right tools.....the parts are not pricy.....the labor is because its different than most other cars on the road.

I was going to get one and first thing I would do is get the Dr Vanos kit. I want to get one still someday
