Bought a Mustang
It finally happened. After pining over this thing for 4 years, I drove home in a Mustang. The car I ended up with has 70% of the options I wanted. Every Southern California Ford dealer seems to think Mustang buyers have no need for navigation. It is okay because my phone should adequately fill that gap. This will be a long-distance road trip car. The Lexus will remain my daily driver.
Why did I do it? 31 mpg which is absolutely true, as long as the car remains in 6th gear.

congrats on the car, but i really don't understand. you bought it for 6th gear mpg (meaning highway miles), vs. your lexus i guess. so you spent, what, $25-30K to get maybe 6 mpg better on road trips? that ought to only take a decade to make up presuming you do a LOT of road trips.

i would think for long trips someone would get something like hybrid that would get 40-50mpg, or a diesel, and be able to carry your stuff in comfort, and have a sports car for around the town.

i think this is the point. you've wanted one for 4 years, and it has not much to do with fuel economy. enjoy the new fun ride and promise you won't only use it on highway in 6th!!!!!

Congratulations. Nice-looking car. And blue, of course, is the classic Mustang color.
Did the Ford dealership go over the break-in rules with you? It's still a good idea, although new-vehicle break-ins, in general, aren't as critical as in the past.
Simple. Maybe he just likes it.
