Looks good but design-wise it's just a shrunken A6/A4 Avant with shorter overhangs and 2 doors. Looking just straight on front or back you wouldn't be able to tell which model Audi that was unless you had sizing reference.
Even the Bimmer 3 tries to give a bit of design distinction vs the 5 with the grille (at least in the front view anyway).

didn't see 28k mentioned, but 26k for base or around 30k as configured with quattro, etc.
but i'll answer your question with a question. out of curiousity, what about the CTh warrants a $30k base? (doesn't even come with heated seats, moonroof or leather for that price)

Our time with the 177-hp 1.8 TFSI – taken directly from the European market's A5 range – showed us that the new generation is significantly more nimble. Our Quattro S Line setup with optional 18-inch flow-formed wheels (16-inchers are standard and there's a range of 17-inch options as well), sturdy Continental ContiSportContact5 tires and wet-clutch six-speed S-tronic with three-spoke sport steering wheel and shift paddles, will be the sportiest A3 at the car's launch in Europe come July. Stateside, we're guessing the price of our tester would be just over $30,000 before options. As a five-door Sportback in this same trim, you'll be looking at something above $34,000 for starters. At the bottom of the U.S. range, a front-wheel-drive 1.8 TFSI A3 sedan with manual in Premium trim should open the bidding at around $26,000.

Most A3s worth buying are in the mid 30k range today. They are not cheap. Maybe this changes with the new model.
I find it ridiculous I don't think I saw any mention of "Golf" with this car but in the ES review Camry is mentioned like 100 times.
If the sedan looks like the concept that is going to be a nice looking car. The CT has sold 2-4 times the amount of the A3 in America.
