WHAT IS AUSTIN FAN FEST ALL ABOUT ?
The Austin Fan Fest is the downtown party celebrating the inaugural year of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix. On the weekend of Nov 16-18, 2012 the Austin Fan Fest will be the world’s biggest party destination with an expected attendance of more than 200,000 people. Downtown Austin will be transformed into the ultimate party atmosphere where fans will experience five free stages of music, four concert venues hosting major international performers, interactive F1 activities including show cars, simulators, gaming, street performances, sponsor parties, a kids zone, and so much more.
Imagine more than 100+ artists performing across nine stages, and marquee buildings such as the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and the Austin Convention Center being transformed into giant Ibiza style nightclubs complete with amazing décor, sound, lights, video walls, lounges, go-go dancers, and glowing bars. Add in some of the hottest international performers like Enrique, Flo Rida, Aerosmith and EDM DJ’s to drive the tunes. The result is the Austin Fan Fest playing host to party-goers from every state in the US, and travelers from more than 50 countries worldwide, all celebrating together. This is truly a world’s party, and Austin is going to show the world why it's dubbed "The Live Music Capital of the World."

It looks like the P&L's are in and Circuit of the Americas' inaugural was a great success. Well, it looks like the beer and liquor industry made a fortune out there. If the sale of beer, wine, and mixed drinks for Austin jumped 23 percent during the week-long festival, you know the hospitality industry - hotels, restaurants, etc. received a similar bounce. Good job, Austin! Congrats on doing us proud in hosting this long-delayed return of F1 to our shores.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Circuit of the Americas became the state’s top liquor seller in November as the inaugural Formula One race weekend in Austin drew more than 260,000 fans.
The Texas comptroller’s office says Circuit-related events had $2.8 million worth of beer, wine and mixed drink sales.
Lewis Hamilton won the Nov. 17 U.S. Grand Prix, the first Formula One race on American soil since 2007, in his fourth victory of the 2012 season.
The Austin American-Statesman (http://bit.ly/UCDBJp ) reported Monday that citywide alcohol sales for November reached $48.4 million, or 23 percent higher than a year earlier.
Some business owners credit the increase to race fans in Austin for the mid-November events. ATX Brands owner Doug Guller says it was a great first year for Formula One.
