2013 Honda Accord

magazine racers? I dont see whats the point of arguing between 300hp or 310hp for FWD car.

Agreed, I bet most buyers of these cars care more about reliability, MPG, interior and trunk space, and conservative styling. Having more HP would just be a nice feature to have.

vtec.net has RL pictures up now. front is very TSXish (Euro Accord), but that rear still screams Genesis. Interior isn't bad, albeit a bit too Teutonic for my tastes...

Well this USDM Accord will be used in Europe and Japan since the Euro Accord/Acura TSX will be discontinued. So OUR Accord has to step it up since it will be exported to picky Europe. Thus why it gains some luxurious and features it seems Acura doesn't even have yet. Its a big win for USA customers but sadly hurts Acura. This vehicle makes the ILX in particular look even more ridiculous. It is another mistake to debut some of these features first on the Accord instead of Acura. Acura was here bragging on their LED lights for the RLX and a freaking Accord has them as an option lol.
So with the USDM Accord going upmarket and Acura going downmarket/notelevating, their own Honda car compunds their glaring issues in regards to perception and image. In contrast a Camry, Passat are far away from Lexus/Toyota and rarely if ever offer features their luxury brands don't offer.

Where are you getting that the engine is "all new"? It just said new technologies being used. You can add DI to an existing engine via either modifying the head design, or simply adding it in if it was already feature protected on the previous head. "All new" to me means new block design with possibly different bore spacings, etc. The fact that it's still SOHC tells me it's still a J-series V6 which have been around since 1997/1998. Why do an "all new" V6 engine and still keep it SOHC?

At this point it's pure speculation as to whether the Earth Dreams 3.5L V6 will be SOHC or DOHC. However, here is an article that clearly states that the entire Earth Dreams range is going to be DOHC. IMO, DOHC is a significant enough change to be called "all new". Again, just speculation at this point.

[ 3.5L class engine ]
Employs new valve train mechanisms and direct injection technology in the SOHC, VTEC, VMC systems to improve by over 10%*3 of fuel efficiency and 5%*3 of output, relative to the present standalone engine model.

Couldn't care less about Acura, and for years Honda has been watering and dumbing down the Accord trying not to make it too nice in order to prop up mainly Acura TL sales. Happy to see that it looks like they're finally going to make a "nice" Honda Accord.
