Default 2013 BMW ALPINA B7 Super-High Performance Luxury Sedan

We've already read about the new features that will be available on the refreshed 2013 BMW 7 Series, but now, the German automaker has spilled the beans about its delicious Alpina B7, as well.

As you'd expect, the B7's 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 has been massaged for the new model year (including the addition of start/stop), and drivers will now be able to enjoy 540 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque – increases of 40 and 22, respectively. All of this runs through a new eight-speed automatic transmission and can be sent to the ground via standard rear-wheel drive or through BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. BMW says that depending on drive configuration and wheelbase length, the sprint to 60 miles per hour can be achieved in either 4.3 or 4.4 seconds.

The slight visual enhancement to the 2013 7 Series is indeed noticeable here on the Alpina B7, with the larger kidney grille up front flanked by redesigned headlamps. Revised taillamps are found out back, and of course, the B7 is offered in its signature Alpina Blue Metallic rounded off with the car's signature 21-inch, 20-spoke wheels at all four corners.

BMW will officially debut the 2013 Alpina B7 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August. Short-wheelbase models will be priced at $127,600 (rear-wheel drive) and $130,600 (xDrive), with long-wheelbase B7s retailing for $131,500 and $134,500, respectively. The 2013 BMW ALPINA B7 super-high performance luxury sedan with enhanced features, efficiency, and individuality for discriminating customers.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 15, 2012.... Today, BMW announced updates to the second generation of the successful BMW ALPINA B7 super-high performance luxury sedan with more performance, fresh design features, and improved efficiency. The new B7 is slated for a North American debut at the historic Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August and will go on-sale immediately thereafter. Pricing will be $127,600 (B7 Standard Wheelbase), $130,600 (B7 SWB with xDrive), $131,500 (B7 Long Wheelbase), and $134,500 (B7 LWB with xDrive).

The new BMW ALPINA B7 has been enhanced in-line with updates to the 2013 BMW 7 Series Sedans including more power, more performance, and more efficiency. The new B7 features 40 additional horsepower (now rated 540 hp) and 22 lb-ft more torque (up to 538 from 516 lb-ft) thanks to the addition of BMW's Valvetronic throttle-less intake technology and a new ALPINA 8- speed high performance transmission. Top speed is now a fierce 194 mph (drag-limited, 193 mph with xDrive), up from the previous 175 mph. Acceleration drops into the low-mid-4-second range for all variants (4.3-4.4 seconds). The BMW ALPINA B7 Sedan remains the benchmark in terms of luxurious performance, chassis technology, and hand-finished exclusivity.

Each variant of the updated BMW ALPINA B7 (including Standard Wheelbase, Long Wheelbase, sDrive, and xDrive) will arrive with over 30 new parts which enhance the design and frontal aerodynamics to more effectively channel the cooling air required to manage the increased power output. New BMW kidney grilles, updated Xenon Adaptive headlights, LED front fog lights, and updated tail lights are also included. Other now-standard features will include ceramic secondary controls, engine Automatic Start-Stop, and the Active protection system. Optionally, the B7 Sedan will offer Full LED Headlights, Bang & Olufsen Surround Sound System, new exterior colors and interior upholstery choices in-line with the 7 Series update. Renewed BMW individual color and trim offerings complete the package. The appearance remains unmistakable on signature 21" ALPINA Classic 20-spoke wheels and stunning ALPINA Blue Metallic paint.

The BMW ALPINA B7 is available as a special order vehicle with capacity-limited production underscoring its exclusivity. The B7's body is manufactured in the BMW 7 Series factory (Plant Dingolfing) and hand-finished with the remaining ALPINA components at the ALPINA factory in Buchloe, Germany. This production sequence increases the production schedule by approximately two weeks. European Delivery at the BMW Welt delivery center is available for the BMW ALPINA B7.

Thanks for sharing, never knew much about the B7.

Never knew you can get it with xDrive and long wheel base. So bascially you can get it in any 750i variant huh.......that's cool.

540 hp now, isn't that more then the regular V12? Too lazy to look up, I think the V12 makes 535 hp.

Great car! My only complaint is that Alpina needs to come up with some new wheel styles...those multispokes are too old school now a days.

Can't wait to see them crank up the V12. It is always fun to see the frequency and amount of how high they crank up the power.

I heard from an insider GM already got 1000 hp V8 certified by the government for them to slowly bring up the power in their Vette, Caddy-V and Camaro. ZR1 is 640 hp, now that the GT500 is 660 hp and the next Viper is also 660 I think. Next ZR1 will probably be 680 hp, if not 700.

Yeah, the wheels are getting old and it's a b&^%h to clean, plus it comes with Michelins Super Sport tires non run flat, and the car doesn't have spare tire!

B7 is available for all 7 variant, basically you order a regualy 750 and sent it to Alpina to convert it. Fantasitic car.

I agreed, they look dated. But then all the new wheel styles from AC Schnitzer and Brabus are so lame now a days, new is not always good.

That's how I roll in my SC430, non run flat for the smooth ride and no spare tire to save weight and trunk space. That's what families are for, free AAA service

I have yet to see a stunning design from a Tuner recently, their style is getting annoying. If I am getting a wheel for my car, it would be either factory 21' 5 spoke, HRE, or Vossen.

Yes. The only limitation is turbo lag.

Now I know.
The RF tires are getting on my nerve, it's harsh, noisy, short life, easily gets damaged and doesn't have good grip! I just got a flat and it cost me $534.00 to replace just one tire!

I will for sure to swap to Non run flat next time, everyone who switched has nothing but good to say. However, I do have to find a spare to put in the trunk, just for the peace of mind for a long trip. Anyone know where I can find a spare tire kit? I found a website but it doesn't have one for F01. http://www.bimmerzone.com/category/B...pare_Tire.html

Same here, they look very cheap and aftermarket. Looks like those $75 wheel they sell at Pepboy.

My favorite wheel for your car is the OEM 21" 312 mash.

Oh yeah, there is nothing good about RF, worst tire feature invention ever

I rather be stranded on the road then to have to drive on it.
