How to carry a full size 21" spare tire without using any trunk space?

This type of spare was first seen on the 1942 Lincoln Continental and is usually referred to as a "Continental kit" regardless of what type of car it ends up on.
I've seen them on Impalas, Cadillacs, Fords..... you name it.

'56 Thunderbird was one of the few cars offered with a "factory" Continental Kit as an option.
. . . although some thought the aftermarket versions looked "better".
There were some fakes that did not always contain a spare.
. . . and some vestigial forms that carried off the look very well:
On any car since about 1960 they are an affectation and really look out of place.

I see you posted one of Fleming's classics, Lil....a '58 Chevy. I live just a few miles (across the Potomac) from Fleming's shop in Rockville, MD. Interesting place (I've been there several times)....though his actual cars for sale aren't always in quite as mint-restored condition as they look.

If I got a flat on my Rolls Royce, I'd rather:
(1) call the predetermined towing company that I know to drop everything they're doing to get my car at any expense,
(2) call my aide to pick me up wherever I want with whatever other car I have in my collection,
and (3) continue to take the wife/girlfriend/mistress with me to the original destination I was intended to go to in the first place.

I think this OP RR is really dorky, the attachment is an afterthought does not integrate well like the antique cars.
