Fourth gen (2016) Toyota Prius

When I had my RX in for a stereo install a Prius drove into the bay. I asked what was on deck for it. The installer surprisingly said sound deadening. I said "Aren't those super quiet cars?" Hre laughed. He replied that they get more Prius's in for sound deadening as Toyota pretty much has taken out all noise dampeners to save weight on the vehicle. Noisy car is the usual complaint of audio hounds. They do 6-10 a year.
Bit - if you hear tire roar it's shtty tires..not the car.

in another thread on here about the accord, MANY (most) say the accord is not a quiet car, and upper trim levels at least usually have decent tires on them.
prius tires are no doubt designed for good economy / low rolling resistance, not being quiet. a search on 'prius loud' and you'll see plenty who agree. from engine noise to road noise to almost no sound insulation (presumably to keep weight and fuel consumption down).
hey here's the search:
https://www.google.com/search?q=priu...utf-8&oe=utf-8
i particularly liked this one titled "10 things i hate about the prius"
https://fourwheeldrift.wordpress.com...-toyota-prius/ and this quote:
3) It’s loud inside: An amazing thing – when you take all the sound deadening material out, a car becomes really frigging loud at speed. A Prius seems to transmit more road noise to the cockpit than a 60’s Corvette with warped bias-ply tires. I’d hate to go cross country in one.

oops, thanks for correcting that. i edited my post.
no surprise there with the hondas being known for being noisy, and the rx seemingly having become more noisy in recent gens. as i've said on here, i fairly regularly go in my neighbor's '14 rx and i've driven it too and while smooth and pleasant to drive, it's not 'lexus quiet'.
either way, i believe it's about insufficient wheel well insulation to save money. tires matter too of course.

Back to the Prius, I can't imagine the Prius using wide, low-profile rubber, either....simply because of the matter of rolling resistance cutting down on MPG.

I actually like this type (altho that one looks a little cheap) better. Roll up ones are a pain and I've had 2 that rattled that I ended up just removing (Prius and WRX).

it is likely to be revealed next year, so soon i guess (but production could be in 2017, who knows).
However, i do hope that this time, Lexus gets different variation of same tech.... lets have it be more powerful.
